Run Away

Captain Deadbeard’s Barrel Blast is a powerful attack, and getting caught it the blast zone will for sure either kill you or damage you to the point where you have low health. There really is no way to shoot down Captain Deadbeard when in Barrel Blast mode as the barrel acts as an extra layer of shielding. The best way to not get killed by the Barrel Blast is to simply run away.

You can tell Captain Deadbeard is going to use Barrel Blast when the barrel pops into view and he jumps into it. The second you see the barrel, you turn tail and run away. There’s really no other way to deal with Barrel Blast, unless you can somehow zero his health.
