Some say that Thestrals lean towards the grotesque side of the spectrum. For the majority, they are considered dangerous even by the Ministry of Magic as they have a reputation to be omens of misfortune and aggression.
The local reinsmen have a different opinion regarding the matter as they seem to have no trouble getting along with them whatsoever.
But those are trivial matters, the important bit of information is can you find and catch one for your own needs? The answer is yes!
You’ll have no problem spotting them as you have already witnessed death back at Gringotts anyway.
How to Find, Catch, and Tame Thestral (Location) | Hogwarts Legacy
Given that you’re about to capture a magical beast of burden the game would expect you to already have the Nab-Sack along with the Vivarium that can be located within the Room of Requirement.
If you already have those at the ready then the hunt continues!
Your journey will take you to the very top of the map which should be the North Ford Bog.
The Thestral den can be located southeast of San Bakar’s Tower. There’s a Floo spot by the exact same spot so traveling there won’t be too much trouble.
You’ll have to make the rest of the descent on your broom since the tower is on a mountain, but that depends on which spot you choose to teleport to.
Make sure you don’t get too close to the den as they will fly away at the first sight of trouble, which are you. Land somewhere discrete and cast Disillusionment to increase your chances of success.
Get close enough to cast Levioso and reel them in using your Nab-Sack.
Bring them back to your Vivarium and check on them from time to time to gather materials for crafting.
And that’s it! You are now a proud owner of a dead horse.
Yes, you can see them without having to do anything special, you’ve witnessed death or have already caused it yourself anyway.
