After almost a decade of waiting, a sequel to the original The Forest game is finally out. If you’re looking to survive the dangers of Sons of the Forest, the Shotgun is going to be your best friend!
The Shotgun is definitely a game changer because it’s quick and it deals a scary amount of damage. Many players even went as far as to call it the strongest weapon in the game! In this guide, we’re going to cover how to get to the location where the shotgun is buried.
Keep in mind, this guide assumes that you’ve already located a shovel, without which you cannot dig out the shotgun. If you don’t have the shovel yet, make sure to check out our guide for finding it.
Sons Of The Forest – How To Find A Shotgun
Assuming you have the shovel on-hand, let’s get to the shotgun spot.
From the spawn points, the location should be either south or southwest of you, depending on which spawn point you’re looking at. If you’re looking for the shotgun though, you likely already went far away from those, so they’re mentioned just for orientation purposes.
Check your GPS locator and head to the purple marker on the top-left side of the island. It’s only a short walk from the cave where the Rebreather is located, and if you don’t have it yet, a guide on our website can help you with that too.
You want to look for a makeshift cross around the marker. The shotgun is buried under a pile of leaves.
The shotgun is extremely powerful against all sorts of cannibals. Get some buckshot, and get shootin’! You should be able to one-shot regular cannibals with ease, but mutants will likely take longer to kill, even with something as strong as the shotgun.
Combat Tip: light up mutants with fire first, then shoot them down. Fire does wonders against them.
