When starting Sons of the Forest, you will have to use items like torches and a wooden bow at first. This is the early game, and the game will not give you all of the good stuff in the early game, so you will have to use these flimsy items first.
But once you make your way deeper into the game, you will unlock more items to use, like the Flashlight. However, you will need to find the Flashlight first before you can use it.

Sons Of The Forest – How To Find A Flashlight
The Flashlight can be found on a dead body in this location. Using the GPS, you can find the location on the map here.
The dead body, however, is hanging by a rope. So there’s no way to get the Flashlight until you cut down the rope.
Climb up the hill and approach the rope that is tied to a rock. Use a knife or an axe to cut down the rope, making the body fall down to the ground.
Find the body down on the ground and look around it. The flashlight will have fallen off the body and bounced off somewhere, but not too far from the body.
Once you find it, it will be added into your inventory and you can use it.
