Sometimes you get an item in a video game and you have no idea what it does. Maybe it’s an accessory that gives you some hidden stats. There are also those items that you think you don’t need but is actually part of a quest or a mission. Then there are items that are actually useless, but players keep them just to see if it really is.

In Dredge when you get the Blackstone key DLC you’ll have a chance to get some cool items. One of the items you can get is the Sign of Ruin, but instead of giving you stats it just gives you a vague description. What does the item actually do? Let’s find out!

What Does The Sign Of Ruin Do In DREDGE?

So how do you even get the Sign of Ruin in Dredge? You first need to get the Blackstone DLC. Once you have the DLC you’ll need to progress through the story until you have access to the Blackstone Isle where the Collector is.

Dock on the isle and even if you haven’t talked to the collector yet, you can go to the workshop. Once you enter the workshop you can choose to collect the items in it. There are two items, the Arterial Engine and the Sign of Ruin.

The Arterial Engine is easy to learn, it’s an engine piece that gives you +7 Knots. The Sign of Ruin is different though since it only says this: “A symbol of the deep is carved into this small talisman. It’s sure to draw the attention of those attuned to it.

What this item actually does is it increases your chances of getting aberrant fish in the game. These aberrant fish are mutated versions of normal fish you can get through fishing. They all look freaky and other worldly, but they also sell for a lot!

Congratulations you now know what the Sign of Ruin does in Dredge, now go out there and try the item out!
