Best Games Like DREDGE

Time to set sail for new but familiar waters!

So, you’ve finished a game and you’re sitting there in front of your screen taking it in. The credits are rolling, the music is playing and you’re thinking about the entire experience. Then the credits are done and you’re back in the main menu. You don’t want to play again; you want a new game but with the same vibe as that one.

Dredge isn’t a long a game compared to other ones out there, but it’s short and sweet. The game certainly doesn’t break any writing molds, but it tells its story well. So, what are the other games out there that are like dredge? Let’s find out!

DREDGE: Best Games Like it

There’s a lot of games out there like Dredge, but there’s only a few of them that shares the vibe and atmosphere. For those who want to experience other games like Dredge here’s the other games like it!

Darkwood

Okay this one’s not really on the sea nor are you controlling a boat but stick with me for a bit. Darkwood is a top-down survival horror game where you try your best to learn the mysteries of this world. Just like in Dredge you’re plopped down without any info and it’s up to you to piece things together while surviving.

The game can get really spooky at times with horror elements as tame as just things being eerie, to straight up body horror. All through a top down view that is masterfully crafted so that you can’t see everything, but something surely sees you.

Outer Wilds

Alright, I know what you’re thinking. We’re getting farther and farther away from water with this one. Outer wilds are an adventure game where you explore a whole solar system filled with mysteries. The solar system itself is always changing and it doesn’t wait for you to do so. With that you can go through the game without even noticing certain things are happening and that’s where the fun of finding out is.

For those who want fish monsters, horror and cthulhu-esque beings you won’t find it here. It does have a lot of mystery, and the silence of space is its own monster.

Subnautica

We’re at the sea again and this time it’s an alien planet filled with all sorts of marine life. Subnautica is a survival crafting game set in an ocean world with little to no land. The ship you were on was bought down by something and it’s up to you to explore and learn what caused it. The game is filled with fish, monsters from the deep and the eerie darkness of the depths. It brings a different kind of fear for some people and that’s what makes it fun!

Call of Cthulhu

I know this is bit on the nose. Call of Cthulhu is a horror game where you’re a private investigator looking into a mysterious death of a family. As you go through the game, you’ll quickly know that everything is not what it seems. Solve the mystery and find out what is going on while you try to keep your sanity. It’s a great game for those who want more Lovecraftian vibes in their game.

Sunless Sea

Boat check. Sea check. Horrors beyond imagining check. Sunless is a game where you’re a captain of a ship traversing a dark underground ocean. From the start you already know that it is pretty close to Dredge in terms of vibes, with monsters and mysteries scattered around the place. Unlike Dredge though the game expects you to die a couple of times, with each new character working on the progress of the previous one. For those who like adventure, horror and mystery this is the game for you.

Congratulations you now know some great games like Dredge. Now go out there and try these games out!
