When you’re out there trying to save whatever’s left of the world, you tend to make a few pit stops. Finding a cure or evacuating the hellscape that is Los Angeles can always wait until later. Why do all of that when you can clear some side quests instead?
There’s a total of ten different locations that you will eventually have access to in HELL-A. All of them will open up and even connect to each other as you progress through the story. This will make travelling easier if you plan on doing all of the side quests in Dead Island 2. Check out the guide if you don’t want to miss anything during your travels!

All Side Quest Locations
Most side quests will be given to you by various NPC’s you come across. Others will start automatically once certain conditions are met. Some quests won’t even pop up until you complete the game entirely! We’ll show you the places you need to visit should you ever feel like doing a few quests for yourself. Here are the side quests you can do during your stay in Los Angeles:
Bel-Air
Here’s where you can find the side quests in Bel-Air. Dez and the Mother of Satan won’t show up until you finish an earlier quest. Just in case you were counting! (Refer to the golden pointers)
Here are the areas you can visit in Beverly Hills for the side quests. You only have Francesca and Rikky to talk to here so you won’t be bouncing all over the place too much. (Refer to the golden pointers)
Here’s a map of where you can find the side quests in Ocean Avenue. Some side quests will start automatically, more on that later! (Refer to the golden pointers)
In Venice Beach you only have three places to visit for side quests. One of them will have to wait until you finish the game, so that makes two. (Refer to the golden pointers)
Rita and Carmen will be available in Santa Monica when you get there, here’s where you can find them. (Refer to the golden pointers)
The Rav-Ages of Caustic X will start automatically after you finish the “Michael and the Holy Grail” story quest. The same thing almost applies to Beacon of Hope in Hollywood Boulevard. For that quest, the game needs to be finished first.
Rikky Side Quests
Both Resurrect The Rex and The Ballad of Rikky Rex are given by Rikky in Beverly Hills. For the former to become available, finish “The Giant Slayer” story quest first. You can find Rikky easily by doing the “O Michael, Where Art Thou?” main story quest.
Francesca Side Quests
Again, after finishing “The Giant Slayer” story quest, Francesca will ask for assistance seven times. Her house is right next to the exit zone that leads back into Bel-Air. She will either give the quests to you directly or you can get them from her noticeboard. Just jump over her front gate, she doesn’t mind visitors.
It Came From Monarch Studios
Interact with the radio over at the Blue Crab Grill once you finish “The Giant Slayer” story quest. You can use the fast travel point right next to it if you’re currently not in Venice Beach.
The Terror of Sound Stage 7
Examine the radio in Beverly Hills after finishing the “Blood Drive” story quest along with “It Came from Monarch Studios.” You can find the radio on a table at Rikky’s house.
Beacon of Hope
Talk to Sebastian in Hollywood Boulevard after you finish the game. “The Terror of Sound Stage 7” needs to be done beforehand as well.
The Death of the Party
One of the first side quests you’re going to get after you leave Emma’s Mansion for the first time. The quest will start when you walk past the intercom near the Curtis Mansion Driveway.
Creature Comforts
Talk to Curtis in Bel-Air after finishing “The Death of the Party” side quest. If the quest doesn’t spawn, finish a few other quests or reload the area. He’s new spot will be at the game room of Emma’s Mansion.
Boz Makes A Bang – Dez and the Mother of Satan
“Boz Makes A Bang” will become available as soon as you finish “The Rav-Ages of Caustic-X.” To begin the quest, interact with the radio in Emma’s Mansion. It’s in the living room. This is the same spot where you will start “Dez and the Mother of Satan” as well.
Clickbait
If you have a strong stomach for streamers and painfully relatable content, go to the Goat Pen. You can find the house at the southern edge of Bel-Air, just under the Curtis Mansion. Finish the“Call the Cavalry” side quest and go near the roof of the house to start the quest automatically.
Like and Follow – Going Viral
We’re not done with Amanda just yet. Once you finish the game along with her “Clickbait” side quest, you’ll find her in Santa Monica next. She’s on the pier next to the roller coaster.
Finish “Like and Follow” and you can do “Going Viral” next. The quest can be found in the office space near the pier. Pick up Amanda’s Phone to begin.
Message in a Bottle
Pick up the bottle on the beach after you finish the “Boardwalking Dead” story quest. Its right along the shore, get off the pier and head straight for the water to find it.
It’s Not Your Fault
Talk to Luciana in Bel-Air after you finish the game. She’ll be in the living room area of Emma’s Mansion.
Cremains of the Day – Diaries of the Dead
Talk to Rodriguez in Venice Beach after you finish the “Plumbing the Depths” story mission. She can be found on the top floor of the Venice Beach Lifeguard Tower. There’s only one set of stairs in the building that lead to the upper floors, just mind the booby traps.
“Diaries of the Dead” will become available once you finish “Cremains of the Day.”You can find Rodriguez on the same spot as before.
The Art of War
Talk to Rosa in Ocean Avenue after you finish the game. You can find her at the Sterling Hotel. Go down the hall and make a left turn. She’ll be seen standing next to the windows overlooking the street.
Lending a Hand
You’ll stumble upon this the quest giver in the Sterling Hotel as well. His name’s Luther and he’s in one of the rooms near Rosa. Make a left turn once you go past the sky lounge and head inside of room no. 2 to find Luther next to a bed.
Scooped!
This quest will start automatically when you walk past the LA 24 New Van in Ocean Avenue. You’ll have to finish the “Boardwalking Dead” story quest first however.
Cold Pork – Organ Donor
Talk to Trent at the Blue Crab Grill in Venice Beach after finishing “The Red Mist” story quest. This is the same spot you’ll have to go to later when interacting with the radio for Monarch Studios. Have another talk with Trent once you finish “Cold Pork” to begin the “Organ Donor” side quest.
Coast Guardian
This quest will only start after you finish the game. Approach the Lifeguard Hut near the Venice Beach Police Station and the quest will start automatically.
A Hero’s Journey
Go under the pier in Santa Monica after you finish the “Coast Guardian” side quest.
Red Tide
Talk to Carmen in the pier area after finishing “Hero’s Journey.” It’s at the same spot where you got Amanda’s Phone.
More Than the Badge
Talk to Jimmy at the Sterling Hotel in Ocean Avenue after finishing the game. You can find him right next to the Sky Lounge.
That’s where you can find everyone if you’re gunning for a completionist run. Find the keys scattered around Los Angeles next if you want in on all of the container loot!
