Are you wondering whether you actually need to do any plowing on your fields and how much yield boost you get from plowing in Farming Simulator 23? Look no further, my fellow farmer. I will show you the answers to your questions right away!

How Much Yield Boost For Plowing

The yield boost for plowing is 20%. To further support that, I’ve done some testing on two different lands planted with soybeans which we will compare. One land was plowed and the other one has not been plowed. Let’s check the results!

No Plowing

As stated in the image below, it says “Needs plowing” since this land have not sprayed with anything or plowed. It currently states that there is 0% Yield-bonus. To check whether it’s correct, we’ll have to do some math.

Total Yield:

After getting the crop to full-growth stage, I harvested a total of 2893 liters of soybeans from 1.63 acres of land. Divide 2893 by 1.63 and we get the total average yield of 1830 liters.

With Plowing

This one has been plowed and as you can see, it no longer states “Needs plowing”. Other than that, this land says that it has a +20% Yield-bonus. Just like the previous method, we’ll have to do some math as well.

Total Yield:

After getting the crop to full-growth stage, I harvested a total of 3239 liters of soybeans from 1.49 acres of land. Divide 3239 by 1.49 and we get the total average yield of 2174.

Conclusion

So, to confirm whether plowing is worth it or not. Let’s look at the difference between the two methods. If you take 1830 and multiply it by 1.2 (the 20% Yield-bonus), that’s 2196. We ended up getting 2174, but I’d say it’s pretty much spot-on: 20% is what you’re going to get whenever you plow. With all said and done, make sure to plow or subsoil for your lands to not miss out on that bonus. You’ve already done the work, why not do a little bit more?

That’s basically it. If you’re interested, we have more Farming Simulator guides and articles so make sure to check them and not miss out!
