Alan Wake 2 is a semi-open world game that features many locations that you can visit. The bright and cheerful town of Bright Falls, the depressing flooded town of Watery, the mysterious and spooky Cauldron Lake, and the ever-shifting Dark Place. These locations can be explored the more you progress, but certain areas can’t be accessed until you have an item.
In the case of Saga Anderson, some places can’t be accessed without a Boltcutter. So, how do you get it? In this guide, I will show you how you can get the Boltcutters when playing as Saga in Alan Wake 2.
Boltcutters Location
To get the Boltcutters, you will need to progress through the main story until you reach Chapter 5 of Return: Old Gods.
This is in Saga’s part of the main story, and you can only do this as Saga. Alan will not get the Boltcutters, as he doesn’t really need one in the Dark Place.
Progress through the Old Gods chapter until you are in the Overlap of the chapter. There, you will have to keep going until you reach a room that has a locked cabinet that contains the Boltcutter. You will need a key to open this, which can be found when you do the following:
Right next to the locked cabinet, there is a lever. Flip the lever and a light will turn on, causing the room to change.
You will also notice that the cabinet is gone. Don’t worry, it will come back later. But first, look to your left and you will see a new room that you can go in by going through the door.
Inside the room, you will find another lever. Flip the lever inside the room and a light will pop up, changing the contents of the room again.
This time, there will be a lot of desks with drawers on the side. The key to the cabinet is in one of the drawers.
From the lever, turn around and go to the left side of the room. There will be a desk you can approach.
On the right side of the desk, there is a drawer that you can open. Inside, you will find the key to the cabinet.
Go back into the room where you flipped the first lever. You will have to flip the lever again to turn off the light to bring back the cabinet.
With the cabinet back, you can now use the key to open it. Once you acquire the Boltcutters, you can use it on any lock you find in Saga’s story.
