When going through Alan Wake 2, there are some optional objectives that you can do while learning about the case. This can give more details about the case as well as more context to the player on what’s happening in the game. Of course, you can just ignore it as well and go on with the story but for the people who want to learn more, then they should try these optional missions out.
In this guide, we’ll show how to do the Optional mission to Investigate the Previously Flooded Area in the game. We’ll go through where you need to go and where to find the clues. Now, let’s see how we can do this!
Optional Investigate the Previously Flooded Area
At one point in the story, when you meet Alan Wake, you’ll be given an optional objective. That is to Investigate the Previously Flooded Area. As the mission says, it is completely optional but may provide more clues and context to the game.

To do this mission, you’ll need to go to the Witchfinder’s Station on the top left of the map shown below. There, you’ll find the two investigation icons on the map, so it’s not that hard to find.
When you get inside the Station, you’ll need to head to the second floor of the building. From the stairs, go to the room on the left and you’ll find a desk there. On top of the desk is the first item you’ll need to investigate.
Once you find the first clue, go back to the stairs and head to the other side of the second floor. In that room, you’ll see a playpen and a bed with another file on it. Go towards it and interact with it to get the clue.
Afterward, you can go and leave the Witchfinder’s Station and in a few seconds after leaving the mission will update. That’s how you can do the optional side of this mission.
