When going through Alan Wake 2, there is a lot of clues and puzzles you’ll need to find and solve. The game doesn’t really have a minimap, and the actual maps aren’t that detailed, so it’s easy to get lost. This can be quite a problem especially when you need to run around in the dark. There’s a lot of forest you need to go through as well and each bend and path can throw you off.

In this guide, we’ll show you how you can perform the ritual to open the Overlap in the game. We’ll also show you how to get to where you need to go. Now, let’s see where you can place this heart you found!

Perform the Ritual to Open the Overlap

The mission to perform the Ritual to open the overlap is the one that you do after you find the heart in the General Store.

If you haven’t done that part yet, then make sure to go check out our guide on How to find the heart for more information.

Alan Wake 2 Witch Sign Map Location

When you look at the map, you’ll need to go to the west of the General Store to the Witch Sign shown in the image above.

It can be difficult to find your way there, since it’s dark outside so make sure to use the path.

Alan Wake 2 Path To Witch Sign

From the General Store, you’ll want to go outside and head left. Follow the path until you see the signboard shown above.

You’ll then need to head right and follow that path through the forest until you reach the swampy parts. There’s an enemy there so be careful.

Alan Wake 2 Witch Sign Location

Once you get to the watery place, look for the Witch Sign shown above. There you’ll see a hole in the sign.

Go near it and interact with it to do this part of the mission. A cutscene will start playing and that part of the mission should be done!

That’s how you perform the ritual to open the overlap in Alan Wake 2. Now go out there and try to do it yourself!
