With another update to Anime Defenders, you are probably wondering if the meta has changed at all. As there are many mechanics beyond simply pulling units, it’s no wonder that people can get lost in the shuffle. In this tier list, we will be ranking all of the spirits that you can roll for in the game from least to most useful overall.
Best Spirit Tier List (Update 5.5)
Before we begin, it should be noted that this tier list is purely subjective and is mostly based on the opinions of the community in the game’s current patch. As such, you are free to disagree with any rankings here, and it might not even reflect the meta in future updates. With that said, let’s begin:
S Tier
- Golden Spirit (18.5% roll chance) – Despite being the most common spirit, it is absolutely one of the best, especially when rolled on your money generating units. It is hilariously easy to get and has a ton of utility at any level of play.
- Arcane Spirit (16% roll chance) – While it hasn’t always been “the best”, Arcane Spirit has gotten a ton of use lately due to the new realm that they recently added. A lot of enemies in the Athenyx Realm has shields up, making this really strong for that specific purpose.
- Crystal Spirit (5.5% roll chance) – This isespecially good in the current update because there are also new challenges that force the game to only spawn bosses. Since this gives you a massive increase in DPS against bosses, well, you can figure out the rest.
- Storm Spirit (1.5% roll chance) – It basically just gives a flat 25% faster attack speed to the unit that has it. Despite its simplicity, it is a very impactful spirit that provides a massive DPS boost overall.
- Divine Spirit (0.7% roll chance) – With some carefully placed units, Divine Spirit can pretty much guarantee that nothing ever leaks. It has a really good effect that can be abused quite easily, making it a shoe-in for this tier.
A Tier
- Galactic Spirit (9% roll chance) – This is a fairly good all-around buff that basically just increases a unit’s DPS in various ways. Many seem to believe that this is not better than certain spirits such as Storm at the moment, so we’re placing it just under the top tiers for now.
- Fire Spirit (6.5% roll chance) – Pretty solid DPS boost due to how it applies a burning effect that scales to the unit’s damage. It is usually underrated, but in the hands of a heavy hitter, it can make a huge difference.
- True Spirit (0.3% roll chance) – Despite being the rarest, it doesn’t quite fall under the top tier right now. This is due to how its effect can’t be fully taken advantage of in a lot of situations, which is a shame as it can be potentially really strong.
- Enchanted Spirit (1% roll chance) – This one falls somewhere between A & B tier if we are being completely honest. The thing is, the chance for summoning something with this is pretty low. However, in certain game modes, even a single proc can be devastating.
B Tier
- Crimson Spirit (12% roll chance) – It is pretty okay considering it requires niche units to actually be useful. While it has its moments, it just falls around the “mid” tier due to the very specific use cases.
- Ice Spirit (7% roll chance) – It is pretty good with specific crowd control units, as it will essentially boost your loadout’s damage output just by having enemies slow down or come to a complete halt for much longer than normal.
- Earth Spirit (5% roll chance) – This spirit has a pretty good area of effect stun effect, but the 30 second cooldown is a bit of a turnoff as that is just way too long. It’s nice to have over literally nothing, but otherwise, it is just okay at best.
- Mirror Spirit (2% roll chance) – The Mirror Spirit provides a pretty decent DPS boost after every 5th attack. It’s not all that bad, though there are way better picks out there. If you have no other options, this is entirely usable until you can reroll.
C Tier
- Sacred Spirit (4% roll chance) – All things considered, it does provide a massive DPS increase if there is only one unit within range. It’s kind of like the polar opposite of Dark Spirit, but at least there are a few extremely niche use cases for it.
- Dark Spirit (7.5% roll chance) – Despite the increased range and faster attack speed, this drastically reduces the base damage of a unit. There really isn’t much else to say here. It just firmly belongs in the bottom spot because of the DPS loss.
And that wraps up this entire tier list, which should reflect the general consensus of a lot of people in the game’s current update.
