Anime Vanguards: Best Unit Tier List (Update 0.5)

Not sure who’s better between Alucard and Tengen? I’ll help you decide. Here’s my comprehensive tier list!

Update 0.5 of Anime Vanguards has finally dropped! Instead of rushing a tier list like the others, I wanted to thoroughly test the units, hear from other players, and ensure I bring you an unbiased and well-tested tier list. I didn’t want to mislead anyone by suggesting a unit is great without actually seeing what it can do. So, I believe, this is the best tier list you’ll find right now.

Best Unit Tier List (Update 0.5)

In my tier list, I’ll be ranking all the units in Anime Vanguards (best to worst), from Mythical, Legendary, and Epic units. Here’s the breakdown of the list:

  • S Tier: The best of the best.
  • A Tier: Strong but not game-breaking.
  • B and C Tier: Still viable, but with some limitations.
  • Support and Farm categories are for units with specific roles.
All the units in Anime Vanguards ranked from best to worst.

S-Tier

  • Alucard – Moving on, Alucard—well, no surprise here, he’s the best unit in the game at the moment. He’s got great AoE, bleed, and insane passives. However, he’s a pay-to-win unit, and getting him without spending a ton of gems is almost impossible. For context, some players have gone over a million gems without luck, which is ridiculous.
  • Tengen – Him, on the other hand, is now better than Igris. He hits hard early with multi-hit attacks and is cheaper to place, making him a solid pick. If you’re looking for value, Tengen is the way to go.
  • Akaza – One surprising rise is Akaza, who now rivals Igris. He’s cheap, has high DPS, and doesn’t require another unit to unlock his full potential. He can hit 30,000 DPS, which is insane! Based on raw damage alone, I’d put him above Igris.
  • Igris – Now, Igris used to be the king, but after the recent nerf, he’s no longer on top. It’s a shame since he was dominant, but now he’s fallen behind other Mythics.
  • Song Jinwu, Vegeta Super, and Cha-In round out the S Tier as well, bringing powerful DPS and utility to the table. Vegeta, in particular, shines with his shield-breaking abilities.
    • Song Jinwu – Song Jinwu is a powerhouse right out of the gate, delivering high damage from the start. His real strength, however, comes from his passive ability, which permanently increases his damage with each takedown. The earlier you deploy him, the more his power snowballs, making him a devastating force as battles drag on.
    • Vegeta Super – Vegita Super delivers solid DPS, but his abilities can feel restrictive and tricky to optimize. He gains bonus attack speed only when surrounded by identical units, and his other passive grants extra damage, but only when hitting a single enemy. These conditions can be frustrating to work around, limiting his overall flexibility despite his decent damage output.
    • Cha-In (Mythic) – Even in her unevolved state, Cha-In boasts impressive damage output. However, she truly excels at taking down bosses. Her Pristine Hunter ability significantly enhances her effectiveness against high-value targets, as it increases the frequency of her critical strikes, making her a formidable boss buster.
  • Obito – He lands in A Tier but could bump up to S with the right buffs from Rengoku. His burn damage synergy makes him a strong contender. So, I’m putting him at the end of S-Tier.

A-Tier

  • Naruto – Useful for newer players, but not efficient compared to higher-tier farming units. Can clear early stages but struggles later.
  • Sasuke – Meanwhile, Sasuke is just not cutting it right now—he’s down in A Tier, and I wouldn’t recommend relying on him.

B-Tier

  • As for the Legendary units, Bean is great, but Agony still holds the title of the best Legendary. The rest of the Legendaries aren’t game-changers, so I’ll leave them in B Tier.
  • Roku Dark – Think of Roku Dark as a more situational version of Cha-In. He shines against tough enemies, quickly ramping up to +150% damage if you can keep them within his range. In story mode, his Merciless Judgement passive adds even more value, with a chance to execute enemies under 20% HP, making him a potent finisher when used strategically.

C-Tier

  • Kinnua – He can stun enemies intermittently, but what sets him apart is his frenzy mode. When triggered, his attack speed skyrockets, allowing him to potentially stun-lock enemies that can be crowd controlled. This makes him a formidable option for managing large groups.
  • Kakashi – He’s a solid choice, thanks to his stun passive, which reliably disrupts enemies, though the effect only triggers every eight seconds. For an epic unit, Kakashi is a dependable pick, and you really can’t go wrong with adding him to your team.

Support

  • Haruka Rin – Next, she is easily the best support right now. You can’t clear some game modes without her. If you’ve got her, evolve her ASAP. She boosts your team’s damage like crazy.
  • Blossom – She is a great support, especially in Act 4. That’s why she will be placed in A-Tier as a support unit.
  • AlligatorAlligator may have a low rarity, but he’s an absolute game-changer. His attacks apply a powerful slow effect to all targets, and the difference is undeniable. The impact of his ability is hard to miss, making him a valuable addition to any team. If you’ve got room in your loadout, Alligator is always a solid pick.
  • Rengoku – His passives are great for buffing burn damage, which makes him a fantastic support unit. That said, he could be in S Tier due to his versatility in damage, but I think his strengths lie in support. He buffs burn damage by 25%, making him a key piece when paired with units like Obito. And looking ahead, when we get more burn-centric units, Rengoku will only become more valuable. Imagine when a character like Escanor gets introduced—Rengoku will be even more of a must-have.
  • Agony – His Looming Threat ability is incredibly powerful, forcing enemies to retreat briefly with a repulsion effect. Combined with his long-range attacks and solid area-of-effect damage, Agony is a versatile unit that can seamlessly fit into any loadout, making him a valuable asset for controlling the battlefield.

Farm

Farm Units: There are some farm units here as well, but their importance in this context is secondary.

  • Speedwagon – As one of the game’s two only true money-generating unit right now, he’s hands down the most valuable epic you can get. Sprintwagon is essential for anyone aiming for infinite runs, though it’s possible to manage without him. Still, his utility makes him a must-have in any serious loadout.

Alucard is King!

There you have it! That’s my tier list which ranks all units in the Update 0.5 of Anime Vanguards from best to worst, as well as their respective and specific roles. Moreover, my tier list reflects the current meta and what I’ve experienced in-game, but keep in mind the devs have been shadow-nerfing and buffing units without announcing changes. For example, Akaza got nerfed yesterday, and Tengen seems to have been buffed overnight. So, things can shift fast.

Do you agree with the picks, or would you rank things differently? In case you have questions or concerns, also feel free to leave them in the comments section below. I’ll try to get back to you as soon as I get the time (I get busy too sometimes, you know?). Up next, consider checking my tier list for the best traits in Anime Vanguards, so you know what to pair your best units!
