Anime Vanguards has just released, marking another addition in the long line of anime and manga based tower defense games on Roblox. As with any other game like it, there are a lot of units that you can spin for, and it can be a bit tough figuring out which ones are worth keeping. In this tier list, we will be ranking all of the current units from best to worst!
Best Units Tier List
Before we begin, it is important to remember that the game just released, which means there will likely be a lot of balance updates and new units that will be released in the near future. There aren’t too many units right now, but it’s enough to decently populate a list!
If you’re still very new to the game, head over to our complete beginner’s guide for Anime Vanguards for some tips and tricks first. That should help you gather up some gems to start summoning the units listed below!
With all of that in mind, let us get to the rankings for every single unit currently present in Anime Vanguards without taking traits or rerolls into consideration!
S Tier
- Igros (Secret) – He is one of the best units in the game right now due to his insane damage output and area of effect. The only downside to this unit is the fact that it is incredibly hard to get and requires a ton of luck.
- Alocard (Secret) – As one of the few secret units in the game right now, Alocard is naturally one of the best units too. Not only is his damage output really high, but the bleed effect that he can inflict can help secure kills if they somehow survive past his range.
- Song Jinwu (Mythic) – Song Jinwu by default already does a lot of damage, but his passive ability can bump his output up by even more. Basically, he permanently gains more damage per takedown, which will quickly add up over time the earlier you deploy him on the field.
- Obita (Mythic) –This character is the first mythic unit that I pulled, so I may be a bit biased, but his damage output and area of effect are insane. His ability, which makes him attack slightly faster, is pretty okay if not somewhat negligible at the first few waves.
- Noruto (Mythic) – Once he is evolved, he gains an additional passive ability that makes him extremely strong and snowball-y. Even without his evolved ability, he is still a decent hard hitter by virtue of being a mythic unit.
- Haruka Rin (Mythic) – She is a really good support unit that will help boost your already powerful units into even greater heights. You can never go wrong with stuff like this, and since there is still a very small roster in the game, she easily fits into the top tiers by being the only one who can do this at the moment.
- Cha-In (Mythic) – Even in her unevolved form, her damage output is pretty good. What she really shines in, though, is boss killing. Cha-In’s Pristine Hunter ability makes her a hell of a boss buster as her critical strikes will occur more frequently against these high value targets.
- Agony (Legendary) – Agony is the only legendary unit that makes the cut because of his insanely strong Looming Threat ability. This causes enemies to be Repulsed, which forces them to run backwards for a brief moment. Coupled with his long range and decent area of effect damage, he is really good and can easily fit in any loadout.
A Tier
- Itochi (Legendary) – Itochi can lowkey do a lot of damage as long as you can burn enemies consistently, which should be easy if you have multiple of these on the field. This is because he applies burn but also deals more damage to burning enemies, and when spread out, you can maximize their damage even more.
- Goi (Legendary) – This guy benefits from having a lot of friendly units within range, as he gains a 10% damage buff for every ally (up to a maximum of 100%). If your loadout relies on having units clumped together, he can be pretty dang good.
- Roku Dark (Legendary) – I see this unit as a weaker, or rather more conditional, version of Cha-In. Against tough enemies, he can easily ramp up to +150% damage as long as you can keep them within his range. In story mode, you can also take advantage of his Merciless Judgement passive, which has a chance to execute enemies under 20% HP.
- Sosuke (Mythic) – Although his base damage is high (he’s a mythic unit, after all), his ability is highly conditional as it relies a lot on hitting the same enemy. With his relatively slow attack speed, you can almost never take full advantage of it, and other units can easily outclass him because of it.
- Vogita Super (Mythic) – This guy has some pretty decent DPS, but my main issue with him is that his abilities are extremely conditional and annoying to play around. He gains bonus attack speed if the only units nearby are the same as him. For his other passive, he just gains bonus damage if only hitting a single enemy.
- Alligator (Epic) – Despite his low rarity, Alligator is actually pretty cracked as his attacks slow down all affected targets. His ability is very impactful and you’d be blind if you said that you can’t see his slowing effect working. Always nice to have in any loadout if you have space for him.
- Sprintwagon (Epic) – If you’re a JoJo fan like me, you probably already knew what this guy does before even looking at his stats. He’s this game’s only real money generating unit at the moment, and needless to say, he’s easily the most important epic unit that you can get. Definitely a must have if you are going to try an infinite run, though you can get by without him.
B Tier
- Grim Wow (Legendary) – Initially, I thought this character would be good because his ability gives him 10% bonus damage for each consecutive attack on the same target. However, in practice, his slow attack speed makes it so that he gets, at most, 3 or 4 hits, and that’s being generous. There are just better options right now, even in the epic pool.
- Kinaru (Legendary) – Honestly, I may be under rating Kinaru a bit. I actually think he’s pretty good due to his large area of effect and incredibly long effective range. I just don’t see him as a main damage dealer, because his DPS falls off a bit in later waves, especially when his slow attack speed passive comes into play. He’s also useful against shielded enemies, if only to strip the shields away.
- Kokashi (Epic) – He is pretty decent because of his stun passive ability, though this buf can only occur every eight seconds. As far as epic units go, you can’t go wrong with good ol’ Kakashi.
- Genas (Epic) – Funnily enough, I still use Genas as an early game unit. His attack speed and damage far exceed the stats of his epic peers, and even those of the cheaper rare units. Not only that, but with a few upgrades, he becomes really fast. Don’t sleep on his burn too, which can also enable Itochi.
- Kinnua (Epic) – He is similar to Kokashi in that he can also stun enemies every now and then. Whenever he goes into a frenzy, his attack speed becomes insanely high, which can potentially kind of stun lock mobs that can be crowd controlled.
- Gaari (Epic) – Gaari is just fine. His attack speed sucks, but if you can somehow let him stack his passive ability up without dropping it, his damage output can be pretty good. Killua just seems better in my opinion.
- Inosake (Epic) – This guy is just okay. His ability is highly conditional and not really all that reliable, and his bleed is hardly impactful as it is a measly 10% of his base damage, which isn’t high enough to matter.
- Shinzi (Epic) – This is another unit that just falls into the “they’re okay” category. If you place some of these early, you can get them up to +50% damage as soon as possible. Not a bad cheap damage dealer, but not great either.
C Tier
- Pickleo (Epic) – His ability is that he can deal 150% more damage every sixth hit, with a 5 second cooldown. Honestly, with how slow his attack speed is, this is hardly impactful and I wouldn’t even classify him as anywhere close to mid.
- Genitsu (Epic) – I forgot to add him to the tier list image above, the poor guy. His ability is pretty much the same as Pickleo’s, but with a slightly higher buff, an eighth hit condition instead of six, and just barely better attack speed. He’s down here for the exact same reason.
- All the Rare Units – These guys and gals only exist to dilute the summoning pool. None of them are good, unless you are literally level 1. I stopped using any of these units after my first spin, in which I just started using Genas instead.
And that wraps up this entire tier list. More units are bound to be added with each new update in the future, but since the game just came out a few days ago, this is all we have for you. Hopefully this helps you figure out which units are candidates for instant selling and which are worth keeping!
