Nothing strikes fear into the hearts of lowly bilge rats more than a giant wooden floater and a full broadside!
This is what you want to work for as you play through Arcane Odyssey, whether it’s for cargo runs or privateering, you will want to have a fair bit of protection to make sure that any sea jackals actually think twice before going near you.
The only problem is there are multiple ports to go to around the map so it might do you more harm than good whenever you’re in the market to upgrade your vessel as sailing around the high seas always carry a certain amount of risk.
We might as well point you to the closest dealership to lessen the casualties.
Ultimate Ship Guide & Locations | Arcane Odyssey
Specific ships are tied to specific locations along the map, so you will have to progress a little bit and do some exploring if you want to find the ports that hold the vessel which you fancy.
In this guide, all of that will be made available to you so let’s set sail!
Locations
When you spawn into the map the first location that you will need to visit is Redwake, do a few quests there and you’ll be able to purchase a Sailboat from the local Shipwright.
You’d want to do this as losing your arms from using the Rowboat you get at the start too much is not a good way to make a name for yourself.
The Sailboat costs 300 galleons, not bad, but not entirely good either.
Your next ship upgrade is a huge step up as you can get yourself a Caravel just by heading southwest of Redwake and into Frostmill Island.
The vessel will cost you 1250 galleons, which is well worth the money as you will be using this for most of the game.
Now if you want the big guns, you’re going to have to make your way further down south to the Sailor’s Lodge. If you’re having a tough time navigating then it’s just north of Ravena.
Unlock the Ketch by being level 75 or higher, and by bringing in 3000 gold.
If you’re playing the game Captain Blackbeard style then you will have to buy the ship over at Whitesummit instead.
Upgrades
After buying your boat or ship the next thing that should be on your list are the armaments, you can view them from the Shipwright as well. What we would recommend for now would be heavy cannonballs and heavy cannons.
The other upgrades and necessary add-ons that can be equipped on your ship are as follows:
- Hull Armor
- Sails
- Rams
- Quartermaster
- Lanterns
- Crew
- Figurehead
All of these items can be combined to create a build that fits your needs, hull armor gives you more defense and sometimes speed, quartermasters can give you enchantments as you sail about, and your crew protects you from the elements by operating your cannons, obviously.
It’s a matter of mixing and matching until you see the numbers on the bottom right go up, it’s called an upgrade after all!
Engagements
A good tactic while you’re out at sea would be to not get hit, easy enough right?
Well, almost, all of your upgrades will be put to the test here but what you need to focus on is reaching your enemy’s blind spot.
That means you should go for the Stern or the Bow, you don’t want to be at the mercy of a Ketch’s broadside so steer clear of the sides! Fire away once all of the white lines are pointed towards your foe, and watch out for splinters!
Once you’ve immobilized an enemy ship and swabbed the deck with their very lives you can start looting! They appear on the deck so all that is left to do is transfer them over to your ship and sell them to the nearest shipwright.
You now know how to defend yourself in a fight, but if you ever feel underequipped you can always trade Rasna Cargo between Redwake and Ravena to buy more upgrades for your ship to further guarantee great success!
