Now that the fear of the unknown has subsided and everyone aboard is properly desensitized and filled with hopelessness, you might be wondering about the other activities you can do aside from intentionally leaving the airlock open during downtime.

If there’s still any intact cargo lying around you can might as well hatch a few eggs with the leftover saline you borrowed from the med bay to get yourself a pet! They’re not just for display however, you’ll need to take care of them if you ever wish to recover what little sanity you have left.

How To Feed Pets – Barotrauma

Acquiring a pet can be made possible through the store or finding their respective eggs in wrecks. If you already have a preexisting pet then you can get an egg from it as well.

Your pets will have two needs: Happiness and Hunger, here’s how you can maintain both of these needs.

The hunger of your pets increases as long as they’re alive, if their hunger reaches 30% then a burger icon will hover over their head until they’re tended to.

Each pet has a specific food type that they like so you can’t just feed it pieces of metal for fun. The food items are as follows: type 1, type 2, and type 3. These food items will increase happiness and decrease hunger respectively.

The food items you’ll be using, for the most part, will be the Pomegrenade, Raptor Bane, Ethanol, and Saline. These creatures really aren’t normal house pets so the last two items shouldn’t surprise you too much.

Drop the food on the floor and they’ll eat it immediately, as long as you and the crew aren’t being attacked.

If you want to increase the happiness of your pets then just feed or play with them in no specific order, there’s a short cooldown if you choose with your pet so be mindful of that.

Keep your pets happy enough and they’ll eventually provide you with resources that may or may not help you stay afloat during your journey.

Don’t drop any mutated items on the floor while feeding them!

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
