I’m quite surprised by this new feature they implemented in Endnight’s Sons of the Forest. This is the one where you can befriend a mutant… and as far as I know in The Forest, these mutants or cannibals are the enemies and they would always go and attack the player.
However, today we are going to teach you how to befriend the 3-legged mutant girl Virginia in Sons of the Forest.
Yep, you heard that right!
Let’s Become Friends Virginia!
Thus, simply act normally while playing the game. Virginia does, in fact, visit you every evening, so don’t freak out and hurt her because if you do, your relationship will just worsen and it will be difficult to control her on that point.
The first time you try to approach her, don’t equip any weapons or anything else because it will instantly scare her away; when you approach her for the first time, she will flee because she is not yet fully aware of your intentions.
(Just a note; she will run away during the first few days of encountering her.)
After a few nights, when you’re maybe wandering close to your camp, you’ll probably see her roaming about holding some food or essential items. She’s actually giving you some type of offering, but she won’t come up to you suddenly; instead, she’ll try to get closer before dropping the offering on the ground and running away again.
Virginia is truly terrified of cannibals, and she will point her finger at a place where they are lurking. As a result, you must kill the cannibals to protect Virginia, and when you do so, you probably already have friendship points with her.
Once you kill those cannibals and get up in the morning, she will come to your location, run around, and sit close to your tent to rest.
Virginia will approach you and allow you to interact with her. You may even give her clothes as a gesture of friendship, especially when it’s cold and she has no warm clothing on.
You can also equip Virginia with a GPS locator, Pistol, and even a Shotgun.
Some things you might want to take note of when doing this quest of befriending Virginia:
- Killing enemies she points out to you
- Lighting an unlit fire she is standing near
- Spending time near her without a weapon drawn
- Watching her dance
- Aiding her when she goes down
- Eating from player structures such as crop plots and drying racks
Some signs of her affinity rising:
- Approaching the player and standing still for a long time before running
- Sitting on the ground near the player or the player’s tent or fire
- Bringing the player items: berries, fish, herbs, sticks, etc.
- Standing near unlit fires and/or gesturing to the player to lead them to an unlit fire
- Gesturing to the player to lead them to nearby points of interest: caves, dig sites, weapons, gear, etc.
- Giving the player a ‘thumbs up’
- Following the player around or staying in close proximity for long periods of time
