Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are finally up and running. At the time of writing, millions of fans are already exploring the Paldea region. As usual, many of those same fans’ dilemma is which starter Pokémon to start with.
Like most Pokémon games, Scarlet and Violet are designed in a way that you will be able to complete the game no matter what starter Pokémon you choose. But which one makes your journey in Paldea the easiest?
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Best Starter Pokemon
At the start of every pokemon journey, the question “Which Pokemon do you want as your starter?” is definitely one of the most challenging parts.
Is one of them stronger than the other? Or should you just choose the one that looks the cutest?
In this guide, we’ll be comparing the three starter Pokemons in Scarlet and Violet to help you decide easier.
Sprigatito
Sprigatito, the Grass Type cat-looking Starter Pokemon, has been making rounds on the internet for its cute looks. But if you look beyond that, Sprigatito is actually considered to be the fastest out of all the starters.
With incredible speed and hard-hitting physical attacks, you’ll have an advantage in the early stages.
While Sprigatito is excellent to use for Titan fights, this Pokemon is weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison-type moves. The Grass Type is also not ideal for the first few gyms in the game. But you can always take on the Titans first.

Fuecoco
Fire Pokemon are relatively popular starters, and Fuecoco’s crocodile-like design will undoubtedly steal the hearts of some fans. But underneath the cuteness, Fuecoco is extremely tough.
Fuecoco, in a nutshell, is a fiery tank. Despite being the slowest, this Pokemon has the strongest physical defenses and HP of any starter Pokemon, and his Special Attack rating is out of this world. Fuecoco’s Fire Type is especially useful in the first Gym battles of the game.

Quaxly
A duck with a haircut? If that doesn’t get your attention, maybe Quaxly’s overall starting stats will. This Water-Type Pokemon leads in Attack among the other two and only has low Defense. In other words, Quaxly’s stat distribution is amazingly good.
While Quaxly is good, it doesn’t have many early advantages, and its Water-based abilities don’t scale well with its primary stats when compared to other Water options in the game.
