If you like games like Starcraft and Warcraft, Warhammer might have caught your fancy a long time ago too.  Warhammer 3 offers the same kind of RTS goodness that the latter series have and on a grand scale.  While most PCs can handle this task, a lot crumble under the weight of the requirements, even if they shouldn’t have.

Here are some fixes that can benefit your FPS and fix some lag issues within the game.

Warhammer 3 Settings | Boost FPS & Fix Lag Guide

Scale the Resolution:

It’s a setting that most people don’t really think about doing, but making sure to play on a resolution that fits your current display type works wonders for FPS.  If the 100% Resolution Scale gives you FPS hits, lowering it to at least 90% can help.

Just a note, your graphics quality might take a hit for this but it’s better than stuttering during a critical time of play!

Main Display Settings:

If you’re not too worried about the graphics quality, you can head on to the Graphics settings and set the quality to what your computer can run.  If your pc is a low to mid end pc, we would suggest keeping the quality to Low or Medium.

Set your resolution to what your native monitor resolution is and disable the Run in Window box to get the best performance out of the game.  You can still opt to run in windowed mode but you might want to run it at a lower resolution if this is the case.

Tweak Your Graphics Settings

On to the nitty-gritty of the advanced settings for this game.  First, you might want to disable Anti-Aliasing as it sometimes contributes to lag especially if your machine is on the low-end spectrum.

The rest of the settings for low-end PCs can be found below:

  • Set Texture Filtering to Anisotropic 2x.  VFX Detail to medium, Tree Detail to Medium, Unit Detail can be low or medium, depending on your preferences, but you might want to keep it at low which is especially handy for massive numbers of units on screen.
  • Disable Depth of Field and Screen Space Reflections.  Lighting Quality can stay at High and Corpse Lifespan should be set at 120 just to reduce clutter when a unit dies.
  • Unlimited Video Memory should be disabled and it’s also a good idea to turn off V-Sync.  If you experience screen tearing when V-Sync is off, you might want to revert it.

With this in place, you should be enjoying a relatively lag-free game and a significant boost to your FPS!
