Your journey of magic mastery starts here!

Black Clover M has finally launched with Season 1 already well underway. Fans of the anime can now play as their favorite characters in an incredible recreation of the world on their mobile phones. The main thing about the show is magic, and there is certainly a strong emphasis that has been put on it in the game.

With so many gameplay mechanics revolving around magic and mastery, players have a variety of options that they have. However, for a beginner, all of this can be a bit distressing at first.

Not to worry, we have you covered. In this complete beginner’s guide, we will cover everything that you need to get started off strong in the game. Let’s dive in and become a master with magic!

Complete Beginner’s Guide

There are a lot of gameplay aspects to cover from a beginner’s point of view in the game. We will be going through each of these one by one to ensure that you are equipped to start with the game. With time, you will be able to figure out the more advanced aspects as you progress.

Main Focus

The main focus when you start the game will be the Story. There is a handy option which allows you to go to the Story objective that you are currently at directly. You can simply click the Story Objective in the top right corner and the game will load you there.

If you are stuck at some point in the story, or have completed all of it, then you will want to focus on the Challenges. These can be selected by clicking on the option in the bottom right of the screen.

Once you’re in the Challenges Menu, you will see that there are a variety of options. You want to focus on the challenges in the top half of the screen. They provide you with Mage XP, Gear and Bond EXP respectively.

These are aspects that are crucial in the early game, as you will see later on in the guide when we go into them in more depth. The other challenges are certainly important, but are something you should focus on later in the game.

Additionally, you want to make sure that you never let your Stamina reach its cap. Stamina is an essential part of gameplay and you want to ensure that you are always using it and getting great rewards. You can keep track of it at the top of the screen.

Mage Missions

The Mage’s Path is something that you will unlock fairly early in the game. It consists of a series of missions that provide you with some good rewards. You can access them by selecting the option in the left side of the menu.

We highly recommend that you try to do these regularly, especially if they are very easy to do. Down the line you may get missions that are a lot harder to do. By staying on top of the Mage’s Path missions, you will be able to keep getting good rewards.

Character Progression

There are a variety of progression systems in the game. While all of them are important, we will only focus on the ones that are crucial at the beginning of the game.

Starting off, you will be leveling up your character as you play with them. Once you hit the level cap, you can Rank them up.

For example, you can Rank up an SR Character to SSR rank, and so on. The Rank Up option will appear on the bottom of the Level Menu.

In the Rank Up menu, you will see that you can spend Mage Pieces. If you are leveling up an SR character, you need to use SR mage pieces, and so on. You will need to use 4 Mage Pieces to complete the clover that shows up in the menu.

Mage Pieces can be obtained by progressing through the game and through rewards. You will be given quite a few in the early game. After that, we progress to the next progression system.

Next up, we have the Enhancement Menu, where you can Enhance your character using pieces. This gives them a variety of additional buffs to their stats that you can see on the left hand side of the menu. We highly recommend that you avoid using Universal Enhance pieces in the beginning.

Instead, use Substitute pieces that are only relevant to the character. As you progress through the game, the Universal pieces will be more important for future characters, especially seasonal ones.

You can see what each level of Enhancement provides you courtesy of the stars that increase as you progress.

Last, but not least, we have the Bond progression system which is incredibly important. You want to progress the bonding on each of your characters as they provide some incredible rewards. In particular, they allow you to Rank up your character and get to higher Rarities.

You can check rewards in the Bond Rewards section, which includes the conditions required to Rank up your character. You can progress through it however much you want, but we recommend at least going to the LR rank conditions for the best rewards possible.

Pre-Combat

In Black Clover M, preparing for battle is just as important as when you are in combat. This includes preparing a well-balanced and strong team, where the characters work well with each other.

Once you have your team, you want to select the Preset Skills menu at the top of the screen.

Here, you can customize your character’s moves and select priorities of which they should use first by numbering the moves. You can even choose to turn on the option to use Skill I on the first turn.

If you leave this menu and look at the bottom, there is an Auto option. Your characters will use their moves based on the priorities that you have set in the Preset Skills menu.

We also recommend that you give Food special attention, and you can configure it by clicking the option in the bottom right. There are a variety of Foods that you will obtain as you go through the game. Each food provides a particular boost that you want to keep an eye on.

We recommend that you choose Foods depending on what you are grinding for. For example, if you are grinding for Yul, then use foods that provide a Yul Collected Bonus and so on.

In this way, you can make the most out of your grinds. Keep in mind your food will go away if you get defeated in a battle.

Combat

When it comes to battles, the first thing you want to do is familiarize yourself with the UI, as there is a lot going on here. Starting off, each character comes with a limited amount of Energy. Additionally, some moves have energy requirements, which are mainly the Ultimate and Team Up moves.

After that, you have the Auto and Multiplier option at the top of the screen. These can be used to speed up the battle or even let your battles play out automatically based on the Preset Skills you prioritized. A queue on the right is also handy, allowing you to see who will attack next.

Team Up moves are great as they allow you to attack enemies with the character alongside them. However, there is a limit on team up moves between two characters, so keep that in mind when you use it.

The rest of the moves are pretty straightforward, and you can use them based on your needs using battle.

World Map & Exploration

The game’s map is massive and there is so much to explore as you make your way through it. Starting off, we recommend that you try Fishing.

You can find ponds where you fish and get some rewards. You are given some fishing attempts, and these attempts replenish after a few hours. It is a great way to get some extra items and rewards.

During your play time, you may see a prompt on the left side of your screen which says King Woof Appeared. It is a limited time event and we strongly suggest you click on it whenever it appears.

After that, you can talk to King Woof and defeat him. Defeating him will give you some great rewards which include a lot of Yul.

Another place you should always visit is the Region Store. You can access it through the World Map option in the bottom right of the screen.

There are a range of items that you can get here. We strongly recommend that you get food ingredients, because they can provide really crucial buffs during Combat. Additionally, you should also get the Gift Box whenever it is available.

Gift Boxes will help you increase your Bond Level, which is essential as we have looked at in the Character Progression Menu. You might want to avoid the Gear Summon Chest, unless it can provide you with high Rank gear.

Free Shop Items

We also recommend going into the Shop Menu when you are at the Hideout. There are some great free items that you can get here. The first items are Daily Skip Tickets that you should try and get every day so that you will be well-prepared when you need them.

You can certainly purchase these items with the premium currency. However, keep in mind that when you purchase an item, the Currency Requirement actually increases for the next time you want to purchase it.

Arena & Events

We recommend that you try out the Arena, which is basically the PvP mode for the game. While it has a tendency to be pay-to-win, we still suggest you play it.

You get Arena Tickets that you can spend to play PvP battles. Also, you can go to the Arena by selecting the option for it when you are in the Hideout.
