So, you’ve finally come across the Black Bear Guia bossfight in the Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong. It’s either you got hella mauled and ended up losing badly to that bear on crack, or you just want to prepare before you end up wasting 3 hours figuring out how exactly to beat him. Don’t worry, my friend. I’ve got you covered. In this guide, I’ll show you everything you need to know in beating Black Bear Guia, like strategies, the boss’ weaknesses, as well as a super-duper valuable tip to instantly make the fight much easier, and more tips and tricks to help you out!

Black Bear Guia Boss Weaknesses & How To Beat Guide

By design, the Black Bear Guia boss is a tank-type that focuses his attacks on heavy, slow, momentum-charging and impactful strikes. While his attacks deal lots of damage, you can capitalize on it since they’re easily dodgeable, even by the least slippery players out there.

This will be your main advantage, as he tends to over-telegraph (He might as well tell you) when he’ll be attacking, because of the wide and visually obvious motions he does. However, that doesn’t necessarily make the bossfight easy. You’ll still have to be familiar with his moveset, so you can prepare accordingly.

For the Black Bear Guia – 1st Phase & Black Bear Guia (This bear is on fayah~!) – 2nd Phase sections, I’ll pretty much talk about the attack patterns and moveset of the Black Bear Guia boss. After that, I’ll provide the General Tips & Tricks section of the guide to help you easily beat this absolute unit of a boss!

Black Bear Guia – 1st Phase

Okay, so here are pretty much all the moveset or attack patterns that Black Bear Guia does on the bossfight. They don’t exactly go in this order, especially the longer the fight goes. But still, it’ll be very helpful to know how and when he does his pretty much “telegraphed” attacks.

TIP: Also, be mindful that once you deal decent damage to Black Bear Guia, you’ll know. His heavy ahh will fall down and use this window to punish him more!

1. Dashes to a distance 🡢 Double Swipe forward 🡢 Goes to a full stop (Might run away for a bit).
2. Double Swipe 🡢 One Swipe 🡢 Double Swipe 🡢 One Swipe 🡢 Body Slam 🡢 Triple Swipe
3. Then, he’ll go back Number 1.
4. One Swipe 🡢 Double Hammer Arm (Smashes the ground) .
5. If he roars while putting his arms up: Double Swipe 🡢 Ground Stomp 🡢 Body Slam
6. If you’re far away: He can go for long swipe attacks, as well as lunges and immediately close the distance.
7. Smoke Form: (I’ll provide a very useful tip for this on the “Best Tips To Beating Black Bear Guia “ section below.) Basically, you can’t hit him at all on this form. All you need to do is dodge by following the small light-like dot on the smoke as shown in the image below. It has many variations like a One Swipe attack after Smoke Form, etc. Always expect an attack once he reappears from the smoke!

Black Bear Guia (This bear is on fayah~!) – 2nd Phase

Once he reaches 50% HP or lower, he’ll go to animation where he smashes the ground and fire erupts; this will be your cue for the 2nd Phase. In the 2nd phase, Black Bear Guia will be on fire (or at least his arms and stompers will be), and his attacks will deal more damage, as well as apply burns (DPS).

Also, immediately after entering 2nd Phase, keep in mind that he’ll enter Smoke Form again but this time, it’ll be much longer (Around 12-15 seconds) and there will be fire around the “small light-like dot”. Also, he’ll now be attacking from the smoke with fast dashes in a straight line; time your dodges well. Prepare yourself to dodge all the upcoming attacks. Outside Smoke form, he’ll still use the same moveset or attack pattern, but he’ll be more aggressive.

Best Tips To Beating Black Bear Guia

Now that you’re familiar with Black Gear Guia’s moveset and attack patterns, here are some very important and helpful tips to ensure your victory over Paddington on Crack:

• MOST IMPORTANT TIP: You can use Immobilize when Black Bear Guia is on his smoke form to instantly force him out of the form, and you can start attacking him and beating his ahh again with your staff.
  • Some have also reported that once he gets Immobilized while on smoke form, he doesn’t ever go back to Smoke form again.
• SECOND MOST IMPORTANT TIP: As big and scary as the guy looks, it’s better to fight Black Bear Guia aggressive and up close! The reason for this is because most of his attacks go over you, and you can get off combos.
  • Moreover, try to stay behind him when you can, his attacks are slow and making him turn before he attacks will help you time your dodges and attacks better!
• As mentioned above, the 2nd Phase of Black Bear Guia makes his attacks apply burn and fire damage. If you ever get set on fire, immediately roll and just keep rolling until it goes out to avoid the continuous DPS.
• Also, before the fight try to acquire the Fireproof Mantle Vessel from Elder Jinchi if you haven’t already. It will protect you from all of Black Bear Guia’s fire attacks. You can find it by ringing the bells in Black Myth: Wukong from Elder Jinchi.
• Don’t use Cloud Step too much when dodging his attacks, and only use it when absolutely needed since his attacks are easily dodgeable anyways.
