Complete Beginners Guide
Gameplay Basics
Blades of Chance primarily relies on two things, as its name implies: blades and chances! Most of the gameplay loop consists of simply opening chests to try to get rare blades.
To open a chest, you can simply press the E key or press the chest icon in the bottom center of the screen.
Every 10 rolls you will get a better chest known as a Castaway Chest. You can also get one even better chest every 100 rolls, called Fortuna’s Chest!
While these improved chests don’t guarantee that you will get a rare blade, they do greatly improve your chances. Besides, they also count as a reward for persevering and opening more Chests!
Which blade you get when opening a chest is dependent mostly on pure luck, but you can boost your chances thanks to the higher-tier chests and also using Items.
Most items, such as potions and elixirs, spawn randomly around the game’s world. Just explore and you’re likely to find some of them!
Once you open a chest and get a blade, you’ll be told how rare it is. You can then press “Skip” to ignore it, or “Claim” to put it into your Blades inventory.
Click on the Blades icon on the left side of the screen to check and equip the blades you own!
Every blade has a unique power when drawn, and you can also swing them by clicking. However, there are currently no enemies or bosses for you to fight against.
These are likely to be added eventually, of course, but you can only fight other players for now. We’ll go over that later on in this guide!
Using Auto Open
Since the main aspect of the gameplay currently is just opening chests, you can automate the process by clicking on “Auto Open” next to the chest icon.
This will make the game automatically open chests for you, skipping any blades of low rarity. It will stop and wait for your input once you get a blade that is rare, so check it every now and then.
You can customize the rarity of the blades you want by clicking on the Settings icon on the bottom left of the screen.
Here, you can type the desired rarity in “Skip Warning”. It’s set to 1000 by default, which means that blades with a rarity lower than 1 in 1000 will be skipped automatically.
Of course, you can also set it to 0 to disable it entirely. This will make Auto-Open stop on every single chest, no matter the rarity of what you get.
It’s a good idea to make use of both of these features to make opening hundreds of chests a much quicker process!
Key Locations
Currently, there are three main locations for you to visit in Blades of Chance.
The main central plaza is the starting point, which is where you will spawn every time you log into the game. It’s where most players hang out while playing the game!
You can find various leaderboards around the area, as well as a small cart with Kieran’s Shop.
Talk to Kieran to be able to craft your blades into equippable Items that provide boosts to your stats, including your Luck.
Leaving the starting plaza, you can go to either the Beach or the PvP Arena.
The Beach area, shown above, doesn’t have much to offer but it does have a unique obby you can complete for a free Luck Potion.
Opposite the Beach, you will find the PvP Arena. Players who are inside the arena can fight each other, though there are no rewards or losses. It’s just for fun!
You can find a leaderboard for the PvP Arena right outside of it, as well as some dummies you can beat up to test your blades.
It’s also worth noting that there are entrances to Mines and some sort of Catacombs near the PvP Arena, but they are closed for now. Guess we’ll have to wait for updates to unlock these areas!
What Are Gems and How to Get Them | Quests and Codes
Blades of Chance’s main currency is Gems. They can be used to buy higher-tier Chests, more inventory space, and other benefits.
Your main non-premium source for Gems are Quests, which you can access by clicking on “Quests” on the left side of the screen.
There are three main categories of Quests, as follows:
- Daily Quests – Basic Quests that are easy to complete but have low Gems payouts. They change every day, so make sure to complete them within the time limit!
- Weekly Quests – Similar to Daily Quests, but with higher requirements and better payouts. They change every week on Saturdays.
- Achievements – Life-long Quests. Their requirements and payouts vary a lot, but they have no time limit for you to complete them.
Most Quests are pretty simple, at least currently. For example, some of them just require you to open a certain number of Chests or get Blades of specific rarities.
Just make sure to check the Quests menu every now and then to claim any Gems you’ve earned!
Additionally, the developers may give out Gems via Codes for promos and events. You can redeem these Codes by clicking the cog-shaped icon on the bottom left to open Settings.
Just type the code into the textbox that says “Enter your code here” and then click on Enter!
For now, there’s only one code available:
- RELEASE – 250 Gems. There’s no known expiry date for this code, but we recommend using it as soon as possible.
To spend your Gems, check out the in-game Shop by clicking on the aptly-named “Shop” icon on the left side of the screen.
With all that said, you now know everything you need to get started hoarding rare swords in Blades of Chance!
