Update 27 for Blox Fruits is well underway and players are starting to progress through the new content added to the iconic Roblox game. This includes the new fishing mechanic where you can use fishing rods and baits to catch up fish. While you start off with a basic rod and bait, your goal will be to get better ones so that you can progress and get better fish. Two rods that many players are trying to obtain are the Shell & Treasure Rods. In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to do to get these rods in the game. Let’s get into it!

How To Get New Treasure Rod, Shell Rod

While you can get the Shell Rod in Blox Fruits for Update 27, as of yet, no one has been able to unlock the Treasure Rod. However, we will still go over the two theories that we currently know.

Also, the shell rod is the last fishing rod that you can get in terms of progression. Check out our how to get shark rod guide so you can get it before you move onto this one. It is much easier to unlock.

Angler NPC Location

Starting off, for both fishing rods, you will need to go to the right Angler NPC. Specifically, you’ll be heading to the Angler NPC found on Hydra Island in the Third Sea.

All you need to do is head across the river from the Hydra Leader spawn.

Currently, there are three Angler NPCs found in Blox Fruits for Update 27. Each Angler has their own quests, rods and bait unlocks alongside separate progression. So, you will need to treat each of them separately.

So, only the Angler in the Third Sea will sell the Shell Rod.

You can check out our all angler & fisherman npc locations guide so you know exactly where to find all of them.

Shell Rod Unlock

When you visit the Angler NPC for the first time, you won’t have the Rods and Baits unlocked. To unlock the Shell Rod, you will need to build up trust with the Angler.

Specifically, you need 40 Trust with the Angler in the Third Sea to unlock it.

If you’re not familiar with how Trust works, you will need to complete quests with the Angler. Completing one quest with an Angler leads to 1 Trust. So, you will need to complete them until you get everything.

Keep in mind that the Trust is also different with each Angler. So, you will need to do quests specifically with the Angler in the Third Sea.

Getting 40 Trust will also unlock all the other baits and everything you can with the Angler in the Third Sea. Here is a breakdown of the bait unlocks:

  • Epic Bait
    • 10 Trust
  • Carnivore Bait
    • 15 Trust.

Once you unlock the Shell Rod, you will still need to Craft it at the Angler. Here are all the requirements you need to craft the Shell Rod:

  • Mutant Tooth x2
    • Drops from the Terrorshark in Third Sea
  • Fragments x2000
    • Currency used in Second and Third Sea
  • Mystic Droplet x8
    • Drops from Sea Soldier and Water Fighter enemies in Second Sea
  • Wooden Planks x10
    • Drops from breaking trees and any other objects with destructible physics

Additionally, here are the requirements for crafting the Baits at the Angler in Third Sea:

  • Epic Bait
    • $50,000
    • Terror Eyes x1
      • Drops from the Terrorshark in Third Sea
  • Carnivore Bait
    • $60,000
    • Dragon Scale x1
      • Drops from Dragon Crew Warrior & Dragon Crew Archer in Third Sea
      • Note: Drop rate of Dragon Scales is quite low

Be sure to try these baits out since they will suit the Shell Rod once you craft it.

Treasure Chest Unlock (What We Know)

While the Treasure Rod is currently in the game, no one has been able to unlock it currently. More than likely, it is an unlock at the Angler in Third Sea because there is another Locked option for a Rod there.

Here are the most probably theories on how to unlock it:

  • Many people are saying it can be obtained through the Sunken Chest because of the name
  • Others say it can be unlocked at the Third Sea Angler after completing some hidden requirement.

Whatever the case is, currently we have not been able to get it. It is also possible that the Treasure Rod unlock might be linked to a future update.

Either way, when the requirement has been revealed, we will be sure to let you know. So, as for now, the Shell Rod is the rod with the highest requirement you can obtain.

Final Advice

If you’re struggling to go through the quests for the Shell Rod unlock, be sure to try out the following tips to make progression much faster and smoother:

  • If you get a Catch Uncommon/Rare/Epic/Legendary Fish quest, we recommend you Abandon it because it takes too much time
    • The 15 minute cooldown between quests will still apply here
  • You can track how many quests you’ve done by looking at the rewards you get for completing some quests
  • The reward number will increase for every subsequent quest you do for certain quest types
  • For example, if you’re getting $1,300 for a quest that means that you’ve done it 3 times ($300 increase from the base $1,000).

That’s everything you need to know about getting the new Shell Rod & Treasure Rod in Blox Fruits for Update 27. While you can certainly unlock the Shell Rod after grinding, you won’t be able to get the Treasure Rod yet. Hopefully, someone playing the game does figure it out so we do end up finding out the true requirements. Till then you can try out the new Shell Rod alongside the various baits we mentioned in the guide. You’ll unlock them alongside the rod so might as well try them out so you can get rarer fish and make money!
