Chrono Odyssey: How to Unlock Your Mount & Skins

Because running everywhere is overrated, and style always matters.

So you’re ready to stop running around Chrono Odyssey on foot like a commoner. I get it. Mounts are a game-changer, letting you traverse Setera faster and look cooler doing it. Whether you’re chasing quests or just showing off, this guide will walk (or ride) you through how to unlock your very first mount, how to tame one in the wild, and how to collect unique mount skins like the sleek all-black stallion. And yes, it’s way easier than you’d think, if you know where to look.

How to Unlock Your Mount & Skins

Mounts in Chrono Odyssey aren’t just for speed, they’re part of your identity. You unlock them early on through a short questline, but there are two paths you can take: the easy way (a little patience, a little sneaking) and the hard way (hope your wallet’s ready).

On top of that, you can unlock different mount skins, such as:

  • A clean, all-white horse
  • A bold, all-black horse
  • Skins like Pinto and more via gold-purchased tokens

Below, I’ll walk you through both methods, starting with the one that won’t cost you 100,000 gold and your sanity.

Horse Mount in Chrono Odyssey.

Easy Way: Tame Snowy (The Classic White Horse)

Where to Start

Roughly an hour or two into the game, you should be able to reach Santove Camp (south of Shady Vale) on the map. That’s where you’ll find Medina, the NPC who hands out the “Find Snowy” Gone with the Wind quest, your first step toward your first mount.

Accept the quest, then follow your map marker east toward the wild horse fields.

The Taming Game Begins

Once you’re there, it’s horse-hunting time. Your goal is to tame Snowy, a white horse roaming among other wild horses. But here’s the thing: these horses run the second they see you, and catching one without help can turn into a 30-minute cardio session.

Thankfully, there’s a way to make this process a lot easier:

  • Use Temporal Isolation.
    • Open your Tab menu, then click the top icon labeled ‘Temporal Isolation’. This skill locks nearby horses in place for a few crucial seconds, giving you just enough time to walk up and calm them before they bolt.
    • No more awkward chasing. No more yelling “STOP” at your screen.
  • Pick one horse and commit. Switching targets will just waste time.
  • If you don’t use Temporal Isolation, you’ll have to sneak up manually.
    • Sneak up slowly, approaching from the side seems to help.
    • Use the sneak skill (hit Tab to open your skill menu and activate it).
  • When close enough, press E to tame.

Once you successfully tame Snowy, you’ll get a message and the horse will now follow you. Mission (mostly) accomplished!

Turning in the Quest

Once you’ve tamed Snowy, head back to Medina. She’ll reward you with a Mount Token, which you can use at the nearby Stable Manager to unlock your horse.

Steps:

  • Speak to the Stable NPC
  • Use the token in your inventory
  • Press T to summon Snowy anytime!

And that’s it, you’re now the proud owner of your very first mount.

Now, if you insist on skipping the taming quest and have gold to burn, there’s another option: buying a mount outright.

Certain merchants with a shopping cart icon sell a Horseshoe item for 100,000 gold. Once purchased, bring it to the stable and trade it in for a mount.

But let me be real with you:

  • 100k gold is a huge ask for a new player.
  • Most players won’t have that much early on without help.

Unless another player gifts you the gold or you’ve been farming like a maniac, just stick to the free quest. Save your gold for gear, crafting, or that sweet, sweet drip.

Remember: you can technically go buy a mount right away, even at level 1, if you’ve got the gold. But for me, taming Snowy is the way to go.

Unlocking Mount Skins (Yes, That Black Horse Is Real)

Once you’ve got your first mount, it’s time to style it up. Here’s how to get your hands on alternate mount skins:

  • Return to Medina or visit a merchant near the stables.
  • Look for skin tokens labeled for different horse types (e.g. Pinto, Black, etc.)
  • Each skin costs 100,000 gold, yep, fashion has a price.
  • After purchasing a skin token, return to the Stable NPC and redeem it.

Now you can swap out Snowy’s coat for something darker, flashier, or just more you.

Wrap-Up: Ride in Style

Getting your mount in Chrono Odyssey is one of the best early milestones in the game. It opens up exploration, speeds up your progress, and, let’s be honest, makes you look 100% cooler. If you’re a new player, go tame Snowy. It’s free, satisfying, and sets you up perfectly for the rest of your journey. Then once you’ve got some gold saved up, check out the skin vendors and really make that horse your own.
