Clanfolk is a difficult medieval colony sim that transports you to the Scottish Highlands and throws you against nature. Beginning with an empty plot of land and just your closest relatives, you will learn to survive as you build your hearth and house, care for your cattle, harvest your fields, and battle the harsh winter.

Whether you expand your budding community into a bustling inn or a key commercial hub, or you settle for a profitable and self-sufficient homestead or cattle ranch, everything is in your control, even the lives of your clanfolk.

Ultimate Beginners Guide – Clanfolk

Take It Slow

This is a game that has a very steep and long learning curve. Imagine it like a series that you watch that throws you in the middle of a lot of stuff happening all around you and you haven’t got a clue about anything at all. But with the time, that you’ve decided to give, this series is becoming your favorite.

That’s the same thing with Clanfolk. It has been described as Rimworld on steroids. So that tells you a lot! It is a game that you’ll need to take things slow and learn them with time no matter how many mistakes you’ll make, just don’t give up and give it another try.

Clanfolk is really a fantastic relaxing and beautifully designed game that has real potential, it is just up to you not to rush things and seek too much of it too soon.

Starting Location

Pay a lot of attention to where you start and decide to actually set up your base and camp area. This is crucial as it will change and have an enormous impact on the entire game. Take your time to study the area and come up with solutions or strategies that you might come up with on how to have better survivability, defense, supplies, etc.

You can see the map from the very beginning. You will see lakes, forest areas, mountains, rivers, etc. There is no best place for choice when it comes to Clanfolk. Literally, every biome has its negative and positive sides to them which makes it even more of a fun system.

What I would recommend is going into a valley between 2 lakes. Make sure to have enough room for your base to grow and you will expand in a way so that you’ll have very good eyes and protection on both sides, for incoming enemies.

Every Character Is Different

Every member of the family has unique characteristics, desires, dreams, and talents that influence what they do best. They will look for themselves and each other, and they will strive to improve themselves through time.

Your children are full of promise and learn through working alongside their elders; teach them to hunt, cook, clean, construct, or farm, ensuring that all fundamental survival skills are passed down to the next generation when the elders die.

Schedules And Asiggninig Tasks Are Everything

Manage routines to ensure that everyone is well-rested, well-nourished, and relatively happy without jeopardizing your family’s readiness for when the severe winter arrives. A day of duties is punctuated by morning rituals, socializing, and rest: spreading seeds, tilling soil, fishing, hunting, crafts, and cooking.

Make sure you are not caught off-guard and somebody is actually just lollygagging and not doing anything. Just keep an extra eye out on your clan folks not to wander off into dangerous territory and see them die off because you didn’t pay enough attention to them.

Winter Is Coming

Oh yes, it is coming and it is scary. If you have been playing Rimworld you would know how difficult and scary time this is.

So whatever you’re doing make sure to have stockpiles and to not rely just on the moment. The cold temperature will come when you will have to be making difficult solutions in order just to get through the winters. Accept the fact that a couple of folks will die off.

That about does it. Make sure to have a lot of fun and enjoy everything that Clanfolk has to throw at you. Believe me, you’ll be surprised how fun this game can be. Now we only have to wait for the release date which is pretty soon!
