Call of Duty Modern Warfare III is out, and it features a thrilling continuation of the previous game’s story. With that said, if you or your friends are only interested in playing the campaign, you may be wondering if it’s possible to play it via gameshare.

While it is possible, you may face issues such as the campaign being locked for some reason. Here’s a possible fix if you encounter that problem!

How to Gameshare & Bypass Locked Campaign

Before you do anything else, make sure that you have two controllers logged into different accounts. This is required as you will be switching between them throughout the process.

First, on the account that does have the game purchased, you will have to go to the console’s settings menu. From here, go to the Personalization and enable “My home Xbox”.

Meanwhile, on the account that doesn’t have the game purchased, they have to do the same steps, but rather than enabling it, they should disableMy home Xbox”.

NOTE: Some of the images here will show the steps performed using a PS5, though the method should be the same albeit with different button prompts (e.g. the button should be A instead of X).

Now, on the account that does not have the game purchased, you should try and run Modern Warfare III, but do not press start once it opens.

Next, switch over to the controller with the account that does have it purchased and then log into the game while you’re using this account.

After logging in to the game, open up the campaign menu and wait for it to finish loading. Once the campaign menu has loaded, log out of the account that has the game purchased.

Once you have logged out, take your other controller that’s logged into the profile without the game. Then, just press the A button to close the popup saying that you are not signed into a profile and start the game once more.

Upon doing this, you should now find yourself back in the campaign menu, but this time on the account that does not have the game purchased.

If you did the steps right and it worked, you should be able to play the campaign normally this way. You may have to repeat these steps every time you want to play the campaign via game sharing, however.

And that’s pretty much all you have to do to get it to work. It can get a bit confusing at first, so hopefully this locked campaign issue doesn’t pop up anymore in the future!
