Taishō Japan is not something that gets a lot of attention in video games. Usually the average gamer either chooses Sengoku Jidai or another specific event that happened 80 years ago that can’t be mentioned in a proper article.
This is where Demon Slayer Humanity’s Fate (V2) would come in to save the day. Now, you get to see what the world was like before things got a little bit too interesting. Find out how you can progress through this harsh world by making use of the beginner’s guide below!
Complete Beginner’s Guide (DSHF v2)
The game primarily runs on lore. You get bits and pieces of it as you go along, but for now, you’ll spawn in as a civilian on Shintaku Village. Don’t forget that this is a close community game for now.
So, you’re going to have to try and gain access to their discord server to get the full experience. Nothing a little money can’t fix right?
With that said, your first steps will include choosing a faction. You can either be a Civilian, a Slayer, or a Demon.
Choosing a civilian role will lock you out of Permanent Death events. It does, however, allow you to become one of the richest players in the game.
Faction Details
Choosing a civilian playstyle means you don’t have to force yourself to be in the game 24/7. All you have to pay attention to is go to the Permanent Death events you requested.
The easiest faction you can join right now will be the Slayers or Exterminators, they’re both the same thing.
Playing as Onis or Demons will keep you occupied with combat for a good portion of the game. What did you expect? You’re a demon in an era where everyone’s terrified of everything, of course you’ll get into fights often.
Skill Points
The next part of your adventure will take you to the outer walls of the village – or any village for that matter.
All three villages will have these Dash Boulders. They will level up your Agility and your Dash moves so be sure to tend to that before or after you’ve chosen a faction.
As you level up with the boulders and doing various quests, you’ll get experience and skill points. You can invest the skill points you get with three different traits: Mind, Body, and Soul. Customize your build that complements your playing style.
Mind allows you to move around the battlefield easier. In other words you’ll get the ability to push enemies around while being in control of your visibility at night. Body focuses on the amount of damage you put out along with your running speed.
Soul will focus on your ability to take on positive and negative status effects. Levelling soul also increases your Technique Power, which gives your Breathing Styles and Blood Arts more damage.
Families, Traits & Clans
Head over to your pause menu and choose Traits to know more about your character’s story. When get to join the game, you’ll have the option to roll for your clan.
Certain rolls and family names will give you a Born Trait. For example, you can get Technique Counter attack for free, which lets you deal more damage after parrying an attack successfully.
You need to know that things can get rather tight when trying to join an official family. Some are open to the public, some are invitation only, while some others are selected personally.
More on why that’s the case never. Some families get custom masks though, so that’s a nice thing to have if all the bureaucracy made your eyes roll back.
Playing as a Slayer
Also known as exterminators, you’re granted Katanas that have been folded over a thousand times. This means that they’re quite sharp. You cannot use your fists to fight demons, you’re not the hero of this story just yet.
Combat will require you to learn how to parry at the very beginning. You can do that by pressing F on your keyboard whenever you have your sword out.
You’ll know that you’re about to do it correctly if your character glows violet. If your character glows violet, then you’ll have a very small window to parry your opponent and embarrass their entire lineage.
Since being a Slayer revolves around combat, you’re going to be looking at PD Kills often. This is your one-way ticket to ranking up in the game fast.
All missions will happen during Permanent Death events, so that’s a perfect time to hunt down players and kill them. It goes without saying that you shouldn’t kill humans.
Playing as a Demon
If you choose to be an edgy demon, then you just need to do the exact opposite of what a slayer is already doing. That’s to kill humans.
Playing as a demon can have its own merits, for example you have passive heals, which helps with recovery. You can only do that out of combat, however.
One more thing you need to remember as a demon is that you can only go out during the night. Yes, you’re that kind of demon, basically a vampire. There isn’t a lot of shaded areas for you to loiter around in for now so it’s best to stick to the shadows.
If you want to move around in the dark, then consider Project Slayers instead. We have complete guides for those from level 0 all the way up to 225.
Extra Info
Playing as both factions is a great experience. Both factions have their own downsides of course, but that’s what makes the game more interesting. Besides, that’s what keeps the story going in the anime as well.
Being a low rank Slayer means that you won’t be able to kill a demon on your own. However, the same applies to a low rank demon so it’s a slightly leveled playing field.
You do get to talk to more people as a slayer though, but that’s boring stuff anyway!
With that, you’re now ready to take on the world of Demon Slayer! Now, go and see if you can join in on their Discord server!
