Till soil, go on dates, make serious bank.

Have you ever wondered what Total Drama Island would’ve been if nobody was at each other’s throats? You get Coral Island instead, well that may have been a stretch, but it’s all connected trust me! Just look at how the characters look and you’ll understand.

What new players don’t understand however is how getting hay works. Do you get it the same way you did in Stardew Valley, or is there a slight difference in how things work on the island? You’ll find out more about the most recent changes to getting hay in this here guide, so go and get busy!

How To Get Hay – Coral Island

Hay is one of the crafting materials you use to keep your farm animals fed, gifting it to the locals is another way of ensuring that no one will ever enjoy talking to you during your stay.

You used to get hay from the mill, that ship is long gone, you can only get flour and sugar from it now so the first thing you need to do is build yourself a Silo.

The next thing you have to do is to make a Dehydrator, you’ll be able to craft one of these using x30 scrap, x2 silver kelp essence, x5 sea salt, and x2 bronze bars only if you have level 4 on your Diving skill.

After you have your dehydrator in place go ahead and feed it some fiber to get some hay out of it. You can get more fiber by cutting grass and weeds with a scythe, some of the trashcans nearby may even have some in store for you, as long as you don’t mind the locals seeing you dive through dumpsters.

Considering the fact that you might be a decent human being and you don’t want to get your hands dirty in the wrong way, you can also head over to Sam and Emily’s to buy yourself some grass starters.

You can get a unit for only 10 gold so it might be a better deal than rummaging through a trash bin all day.

The last thing you can do to get your hands on some hay is to go to Jack’s shop and buy the resource directly for 30 gold a pop. Do this if you’re going through a slight shortage and need a few units on hand ASAP.

Otherwise, just take the time to grow it yourself, you can even grow hay during the winter to give yourself something to do when you’re bored!
