In Crystal of Atlan, you’ll often want to optimize your character to do the best damage possible. This means that you’ll also be playing around with the Elemental Damage that you can deal. However, elemental damage in this game can be a bit confusing – as it works a bit differently from other MMOs. So, in this guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know about elemental damage, which includes how you can get it and which element is the best for you. This will allow you to further enhance the damage your class can dish out. With that said, let’s get into it!
How Elemental Damage Works
Elemental damage is a stat that gets slept on by most players in Crystal of Atlan – with many players often opting to just boost their physical damage. However, most pros give special attention to elemental damage.
Your equipment also plays a major role in the damage you can deal, which includes elemental damage. For that, we recommend checking out our equipment guide.
Elemental Stats
Starting off, you may be wondering how you can actually check your elemental damage in Crystal of Atlan. To do this, you want to go into the Attributes menu.
Here, you’ll see all your stats listed down. The elemental stats can be found in the Element tab.
There are four elements in Crystal of Atlan: Cryo, Pyro, Electro and Umbro. You’ll see each stat with the enhancement and resistance value for each.
To calculate the elemental damage increase, you will need to multiply the Elemental ENH value by 0.45 i.e. for each 1 point of Enhancement, you will deal 0.45 damage.
You can check this easily by simply hovering over the respective enhancement and it’ll give you the damage as shown below. So, if the Pyro ENH value is 129.2, then the damage increase is 0.45 X 129.2 = +58.7%.

Additionally, you can also get an idea of elemental damage as certain skills deal elemental damage. For example, the Elementalist has a variety of skills that use them.
To check which skill does which elemental damage, you can check the attributes of the skill.
Keep in mind that not all skills deal elemental damage, only some of them do on certain classes.

How To Increase Elemental Enhancement
Since elemental enhancement is a crucial stat for dealing elemental damage, you will want to increase it. There are multiple ways you can use to increase the elemental enhancement stat in Crystal of Atlan:
- Equipment
- Insignias
- Circuits.
However, keep in mind that elemental enhancement does not mean that you get elemental damage immediately. Elemental enhancement simply gives you the potential to do extra damage.
To actually do the elemental damage, you will need to trigger the respective element. We’ll take a look at how you can do that next.

How To Get Elemental Damage
Simply increasing the elemental enhancement is not enough to do elemental damage. To actually trigger the damage against the enhancement, you will need to activate the element in Crystal of Atlan.
Here are some ways that you can do it:
- Using Insignias
- Equipping gear with elemental damage
- Using skills with elemental attributes
- Using food with elemental buffs.
Keep in mind that you will need to unlock recipes to be able to actually craft the food. This is why you will need to complete your exploration quests as this is how you unlock them.

Which Element Is The Best?
With four elements in Crystal of Atlan, you may be wondering what’s the benefit for each of them. Does each element lead to a unique debuff?
However, elemental damage works the same for each of the elements. None of the elements give you extra debuffs or options.
Elements in Crystal of Atlan simply give you a damage increase, that’s it. So, in essence, all elements are the same and none of them stands out from each other.
This is why the best element for you is the one that has the highest elemental enhancement. In fact, we recommend that you only focus on improving one element, as this is a strategy that pros use.
While you should focus on increase your Critical Damage as well, you need to remember that Elemental Damage is actually increase by your crit stats as well. You can think of elemental damage as simply another damage multiplier.
So, you should focus on improving the Crit DMG and focusing on the element with the highest ENH value. Doing so will give you the highest possible damage.
Once you’ve picked an element, you can start getting Insignias and Circuits that revolve around that element. On top of that, you can also eat the food that further enhances that specific element.
Of course, you will also need to activate that element using the various methods we outlined above so you can actually trigger the damage.

You may be wondering, can’t I just use multiple elements? Unfortunately, that’s not how it works in Crystal of Atlan. If you manage to activate multiple elements, the game will simply trigger the damage with the highest Enhancement value.
So, using multiple elements is useless. You should definitely only focus on improving one element.

If you’re a Bounty Hunter user, you may feel that each element actually has its unique buff and debuff. The Magic Cartridge skill in particular has different effects depending on the elemental attribute you use.
These effects are only unique to the Bounty Hunter – they do not apply universally in the game. Additionally, these effects are only triggered by the Bounty Hunter’s skill, not if she does elemental damage.

That’s everything you need to know about how elemental damage works in Crystal of Atlan. With this knowledge, you will now be able to further optimize your builds so that you can add elemental damage to your damage output. Since it’s simply a damage multiplier, we recommend that you do not skip it. And make sure to only focus on improving one element for the best results possible.
