Gamers nowadays would normally wait for a week or two after hearing news of a new title that’s making its rounds around the Steam Store. There’s also an alarming amount of people who have their mouse pointer hovering over the buy button once a game like Dave The Diver gets released for consumption.
Now don’t get the wrong idea, it’s a great game. You can’t really argue with a 97% approval rate for something that’s only been out for two weeks. But it’s quite understandable to be wary of your savings at times. So we’ll show you what the game has in store for you from a safe distance instead!
Before You Buy & Is It Worth It?
So how is the game getting that much attention that it actually got you to read an article about it? Is the game overhyped? Did it got blessed by some sort of unknown algorithm? Or is it actually a good game and nothing more?
Dave The Diver is divided into multiple gameplay loops: You have the diving part where you have to explore parts of the mystical Blue Hole for knowledge and resources, and you also have a sim management segment whenever you’re out of the water. That’s where you take care of your Sushi bar called Bancho Sushi.
As you explore, you find more species of fish and supplies that you need to haul back to the surface to keep your Sushi Bar stocked. Be warned, you’ll lose most of your findings if you run out of oxygen while in the middle of exploration!
You also have parts of the game where you jokingly go through short visual novel segments with various eccentric characters. Yes, the game is filled with references that only a person who spends too much time on the internet can catch! But that’s for you to find out as we’re trying to keep this spoiler-free.
Known Issues
There are some minor bugs where parts of the user interface disappear without warning. You also have occasional frame drops which can be quite annoying if it happens during exploration. Another issue of the game includes boss fights that even a toddler can finish on the first try. If you’re the kind of gamer who likes to get sweaty and enjoys constant stress, Dave The Diver might not be for you.
Is the Game Worth Your Money?
There is so much content for you to burn through in the game. Multiple genres have been put together to make a very engaging and unique experience. Most of the time developers just do that for the sake of creating something that resembles The Forest. Dave The Diver is different, and we mean that in a good way, especially if you’re only paying nearly $20.00 for it (prices will vary).
So yes, give Dave The Diver a try today. It’s well worth your money, and you won’t even think about refunding once you sink your teeth into it long enough! Remember to check out our guides once you dive in!
