Some of the containers in Dead Island 2 are very easy to open, you need not do anything more other than find a key and move on with your day. This is where Jamal’s Stash comes in to keep you on your toes. You’re going to do a little bit more before you can get this thing to open.
If you wish to open this crate then you have to reacquaint yourself with the Halperin Hotel yet again. But you have to visit the Sterling Hotel first! So check out the guide if you’re still confused because you have a missing person to find.
Jamal’s Crate Key Location
When you first visit the Sterling Hotel, you will discover the Missing Persons Board. This is the same place you will go to later when you look for Pablo at the Gang Green Store.
From the missing persons board, make sure to grab “Missing: Jamal” request from the board.
After that, fast travel back to the Halperin Hotel first because this is where Jamal’s Stash can be found. Go to the right of the room to get started!
You’ll spawn in at the personnel room next to the elevators so take the stairs going down to get to the outside parking lot.
Once you’re outside, proceed to the red marker to get new objectives for your mission.
As soon as you step in the parking lot your objective will tell you to “Sniff out” Jamal’s whereabouts. One of the places you need to check out will be the security hut to your right. Inside of the hut will be a filing cabinet which houses Jamal’s vehicle registry, counting as your first clue.
Go outside of the hut and make your way through the parking lot. There’s a white and red vehicle to your right that’s completely immobile, go behind those to continue.
Behind those two cars is a security fence that didn’t do its job properly. Crawl underneath it, turn right, and follow the road until you see two orange buses.
You’re now at the front of the hotel again. The second security hut with a dead staff member in it is next to the two orange buses. The clue inside will be on the ground right next to the staff member’s corpse. You’ll learn that Jamal has abandoned his post and drove off in a red truck.
The game will now show you exact directions to his last known location. Follow the red marks to find his truck, and more importantly, his belongings. The red marks will appear three times, Jamal will show up as soon as you get to the third marker.
Here’s a general view of the path you will take going outside, with the blue “X” being you.
His truck is in the same spot where the Sunbather Zombie is. That’s on the only intersection right outside of the hotel. Once you get there you’ll find zombie clad in riot gear named “Jamal?” No one knows his whereabouts anymore so put this guy down to get Jamal’s Crate Key to open the stash in the back of the truck.
Inside of his stash will be a semi-automatic pistol, to the right of his stash will be some ammunition. Now take out the Sunbather if you haven’t yet so you can loot the container next to the pool!
