The laning phase in Deadlock is pretty straightforward. The goal? Gather more souls than your opponent, and you’ll dominate the lane. Sounds simple, right? But it’s not always that easy—until now. With the strategy I’ll share in this guide, it’ll make your opponents frustrated to the point they might even quit mid-game. In fact, I’ve seen enemies rage-quit because they couldn’t handle it. It’s that powerful.
How To Win & Dominate Your Lane Guide
Throughout the guide, I’ll provide you with the important points, tips, and decisions you should make when laning in Deadlock. Also, know that winning the laning phase is important, but learning how to transition from that early lead to keeping your team ahead is crucial too. This guide will cover that as well! Alright, so let’s jump right into it!
SIDE NOTE: I’ve also discussed the Laning Phase on my complete beginner’s guide for Deadlock, make sure to check it out as well for more laning-phase-information!
Dominating The Early Laning Phase
The key to win Early Laning Phase is to create as much space as possible early on. Also, you should always keep in mind to play your character accordingly to its playstyle and design; every character/role is played differently.
For example, Dynamo is a close-range fighter, so you need to control space and apply pressure before the first trooper wave even arrives. Once that wave shows up, prioritize farming and target the Healer class Troopers first. This minimizes their healing impact on the enemy laner and allows you to take control of the lane.
As the enemy laner clears their troopers, look to steal their resources with well-timed attacks. By consistently keeping the pressure on and securing more farm than them, you’ll build a solid advantage.
Now, always be mindful of your enemy laners’ strengths. For example, Wraith has a large magazine size, so you need to be careful when she’s ready to retaliate. Keep focusing on the Healer trooper/s and make sure to grab every farm opportunity. The key is to double your enemy laner’s farm early on, which will allow you to transition to an aggressive playstyle. As soon as you hit your first power spike, you can then look for a kill opportunity.
Maintain Your Lead & Transition To Mid-Late Game Ahead
Focus on maintaining a lead—double your enemy laner’s farm and steadily push them back. Also, always use cover and outmaneuver them while securing souls. The goal is to keep applying pressure without letting them regain control. As you hit 2k in farm, it’s time to gear up and go for that first decisive kill. You’ll have to wait for the right moment, ideally when your trooper wave is strong enough to support a push.
NOTE: In order to use covering well, make sure that always peek from the left side. You can see a lot of the lane, but the enemy team will only see a tiny piece of your body.
It’s possible that your enemy laner tries to fight back, with your good positioning and farm lead, you have to make sure that you outplay them. Once you’ve eliminated them and cleared the lane, it’s important that you maximize your advantage by quickly shopping to use your lead, returning to the lane and maintaining pressure.
If you’ve followed the guide, you’ll be well ahead now; the next step is to prepare for potential ganks and team fights. After the 10-minute mark, Souls start working differently—split evenly among teammates in the same lane—so you’ll have to adjust your strategy accordingly. Before then, though, ganking solo lanes will allow you to maximize soul gain without splitting with your teammates.
It’s Time to Dominate Your Enemy Laners
There you have it! The key to dominating the laning phase and beyond in Deadlock is balancing aggression with efficient farming and keeping your opponent on the back foot. With the strategy I’ve shown you, you’ll not only win your lane but set your team up for success across the entire match.
