Bosses are never an easy thing to deal with in Decaying Winter, especially when the fight goes on for too long and you only end up losing at the last second. It gets even more tiring if you keep making the same mistakes at the worst possible time.
It’s very important to know how your enemy moves and what they might do next to ruin your day. So here’s a guide that shows you everything you need to do and keep in mind in order to survive the next encounter with her.
Advanced Sledge Queen Guide
One of the many things that you need to watch out for when fighting the Sledge Queen is her Knuckleboom augmentation. She can use it multiple times with little to no cooldown and is the only thing that she relies on most of the time as it’s enough to put you in the dirt.
Apart from her one size fits all augmentation, you still have her bulletproof armor plating and Absolver Perfect Hits that ignores Parrying. Here’s what you can do to practice and get better when it comes to dealing with her antics. Let’s start with your Holo Emitters.
Detailed Guide
When used, you create a holographic clone of yourself. This attracts enemies that get close to it including the Sledge Queen. You can unlock the Holo Emitters by completing the Armed and Dangerous challenge. Place it in front of the lamp post at the Safezone. Don’t place it too close, if she gets stuck on while trying to longshot it she’ll just teleport again and make life more difficult for you. Don’t place it too far either because the Castle Sniper might see it.
While she’s chasing you around the Safe Zone, wait for her to drop her hammer. She’ll most likely do two attacks before her longshot. If it’s a grapple, light, or heavy attack, parry them as fast as you can. If it’s a shortshell then be ready to move out of the way. You still have to work your way back to the Sledge Queen and parry her again before another longshot.
Fighting her in the Mountain Area will involve trying to not get her stuck anywhere at all. You also need to make sure that the snipers don’t hit you while you’re trying to shove her away. Stay close to her while you’re going up the stairs and use your Holo Emitter again before getting to the top.
Once you’re at the top, simply wait for her to teleport to you. Make sure to dodge her slam attack by moving away from the ladder. If she gets thrown to the other side of the map then that means you were too close to the ladder. Stand back a little bit to keep the fight going!
If the Sledge Queen gets too close to you while you’re on the Tower, make sure to bump into her a few times. This will send her back and give you time to make use of your Holo Emitter again. Most of her attacks before her Longshot are inconsistent, but a lot of them will be light attacks if you drop her hammer quick enough.
Here’s what you can expect from her moveset:
- 4 light attacks + 1 heavy / grapple attack
- 3 light attacks + 2 heavy / grapple attacks
- 2 light attacks + 4 heavy / grapple attacks
- 5 light attacks + any attack
If she Jumps during your fight, stop counting her moves. Just go back to parrying everything until you get to stun her Longshot attack. When killed, she will drop a unique Agent Container, the raiders will stop appearing as well.
And that’s how you can deal with the Sledge Queen in Decaying Winter! See if you can get that reward for yourself the next time you take her on!
