The Sacred Emergence quest in Destiny 2: The Final Shape takes players through a multi-step search quest within the Edge of Fate location. Along the way, you’ll collect hidden materials, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover layers of lore while progressing toward Triumph completion and questline advancement. If you’re unsure where to go next or missed one of the search points, this step-by-step guide will walk you through the entire process from start to finish.

Quest Start: Head Into The Stacks

To begin Sacred Emergence, head to The Stacks, a sub-region within the Pale Heart. After finishing the main campaign, you’ll have access to the ability to MatterSpark at will by pulling out your Ghost.

Throughout this quest, you’ll use that ability multiple times, so keep it in mind.

At the start of this section, there’s also a hidden urn located in the area—part of the Unseen Burial Triumph. It’s optional but worth grabbing while you’re there.

Objective: Recover Three Memory Items (Molts)

Your goal for this part of the quest is to recover three memory molts scattered across different locations. Each location will have a Search Area marker and some ambient lore dialogue you can listen to as you explore.

First Memory Molt – The Stacks

  • Follow the waypoint into The Stacks.
  • Head toward the left section of the zone.
  • Once in the search area, listen to the optional lore.
  • The molt is tucked into a corner of the room. Interact with it to collect.

Second Memory Molt – The Outer Way

  • Fast travel to The Outer Way.
  • Clear out nearby enemies (optional).
  • The mote is located behind a stack of boxes within the marked area.

This memory is linked to a moment in the lore described as “born from a corpse flower mold.”

Third Memory Molt – Requires Puzzle Completion

  • The third memory location also has a search area, but reaching the mote requires solving a small puzzle.
  • Complete the puzzle section by following the steps shown below:

Objective: Disable Lasers and Collect Final Part

After retrieving all three memory items, you’ll need to:

  1. Disable a set of lasers that block your path.
  2. Once disabled, descend to the lower level and collect the final quest part.

This area contains more ambient lore, and it’s recommended to take your time exploring and listening if you’re interested in the story.

Track Down the Mysterious Character and Ghost

Once you’ve collected the final part, your next task is to find a mysterious NPC character. This involves fast traveling to a new location and listening to a lengthy piece of narrative dialogue. It’s an introspective memory sequence involving fragmented thoughts:

“One last fragment into the whole… ”

When the dialogue finishes, the character apologizes and promises to clarify things over time.

After the dialogue, the last quest step is to track down a small Ghost nearby. This can be tricky due to how small it is and how well it blends with the environment.

  • Search the immediate area near the last waypoint.
  • Look low or behind nearby terrain to spot the Ghost.
  • Interact with it to complete the quest step.

Completing Sacred Emergence in Destiny 2 moves you deeper into the mysteries of The Final Shape. While the combat in this quest is light, the focus is on lore, exploration, and the emotional aftermath of what the campaign revealed. The memory molts and hidden urns you discover connect to larger Triumphs and long-term objectives that unfold as you continue to explore the Pale Heart. If you’re a lore hunter, be sure to revisit these areas later. Many include secrets that only reveal themselves after later missions or when you’re in Transcendence.
