Diablo 4: A Witness in the Dust – Fetid Mausoleum Guide

With the new season in Diablo 4, comes new stuff that you can get in the battle pass as well as quests. There are a ton of changes with this new season and a lot of content to go through for veteran players. One of the new quests is A Witness in the Dust, which you’ll need to go through a dungeon to complete and find a certain item inside it.

In this guide, we’ll show you how you can do this quest in the game. We’ll go through the location of the dungeon and what to expect inside. Now, let’s see how you can do this quest!

A Witness in the Dust – Fetid Mausoleum Guide

This quest in Diablo 4 requires you to go to a dungeon and do a couple of things inside. You don’t need to finish the dungeon, but you do need to do a couple of dungeon mechanics to get where you need to go. Now, here’s how you can do this quest.

Enter the Fetid Mausoleum with Erys

The first step of A Witness in the Dust quest is to go to the Fetid Mausoleum with Erys. You don’t need to do anything with Erys as the game just assumes they’re there all the time. All you need to do is just go to the Fetid Mausoleum dungeon.

You can find this dungeon in the northeastern parts of Hawezar in the Writhing Mire. From The Tree of Whispers waypoint, go to the northwest until you find the dungeon.

The dungeon is at the end of a long corridor as you can see in both the map above and the mini-map below. Go there and interact with the gate to go inside.

Acquire the Profane Vampire Skull

This will be your standard dungeon that has its missions that you can do. In the middle of the dungeon is a door that you’ll need to unlock.

To do so, you’ll need to find the two Bloodstones and place them on the pedestals near the door.

These Bloodstones are inside two elite mobs in the area. Find them and defeat them, then interact with the bloodstone when it drops on the ground.

Once you take the bloodstones to the pedestals the door will open, and you can continue with the dungeon.

Continue onward to the Halls of the Plagued part of the dungeon. You don’t have to complete this area for the quest. All you need to do is find the Coffin shown below and open it.

This will give you a few pieces of loot as well as the Profane Vampire Skull. Take it and that would be the end of this part of the quest.

Now, all you need to do now is complete Chapter 2 of the Season Journey. That means doing the different objectives until you’ve done 11 of them and you complete the chapter!

Here’s a list of all 11 objectives that you’ll have to complete in order to progress:

• Forsaken Offerings: Collect 2 Caches from the Tree of Whispers by completing Whispers.
• Vault Delver: Successfully complete 8 Cellars.
• Ruins Reclaimed: Conquer a Stronghold.
• Baptized in Blood: Attain Level 25.
• Finer Clarity: Upgrade your Potion to Minor at the Alchemist.
• Path to Strength: Unlock Aspects in the Codex of Power, typically achieved by completing Dungeons.
• Deliver Us From Evil: Rescue Villagers during the Blood Harvest event, accessible after completing or skipping the Campaign.
• Vampire No More: Defeat a Blood Seeker, available after completing or skipping the Campaign.
• Tides of Blood: Activate a Vampiric Power that requires at least 3 Pacts, attainable after completing or skipping the Campaign.
• Contract Reforged: Customize your armor by adding or removing Pacts, possible after completing or skipping the Campaign.
• Bejeweled: Master the art of crafting Gems at the Jeweler.
