Dinkum Critter Guide How to Catch Critters

Since the dawn of man, the sea has showed a bounty of wonders for us. From food to weird creatures, those deep waters hold a lot of secrets. When I was a kid I always looked at the ocean in wonder, ever since I saw my first starfish and jellyfish I’ve always look for other things found in there. In the game Dinkum there’s a lot of things you can find beyond the beaches of your island. A whole world of critters out there and all you need to do is dive down! Let’s find out how to catch critters in Dinkum.

Critter Guide In Dinkum

Before you go out there and swim around shark and crocodile infested waters there are a few things that you should get first. Swimming in Dinkum is slow, and often than not the things that want to bite you in those waters are faster than you. This is a problem since we’ll be getting pretty deep in the waters for some of these critters.

There are some things that can help you traversing the waters in Dinkum, the earliest one you can probably get is the Row Boat. The Boogie Board is also a great item since while equipped you can move faster in the water and while diving, plus you can also jump too! If you’re far in the game like me a Jet Ski is also a great way to traverse the sea in style.

Whatever mode of transportation you use, once you have it you should go and explore the seas around your island. Sometimes you’ll see objects on the sea floor with bubbles coming out of it. That means a critter is there! So, once you find something like that, go and dive down the water until you get close to the critter. Once close you can pick them up with your right mouse button.

There are a lot of critters out there, and some of them don’t appear unless it’s specific seasons or location. The locations are usually divided to northern or southern oceans as well as rivers so check those places for more unique critters!

Just remember that like bugs, critters take one inventory space and do not stack. So, once you’re nearing full you should head back to town.

Once back in town you can either sell the critters to John for some Dinks, or donate them to the museum through Theodore. I suggest donating them first to the museum if it’s the first critter of that kind you saw.

Now you know how to catch those critters, now go out there and happy hunting!
