When you start the game, you arrive at a location called Dreamlight Valley, home to many familiar Disney characters. However, upon arrival, you realize that something is not right. The place is covered in dark thorns, the sky is dark, and the town seems abandoned, save for one Merlin, who asks you to retrieve the Royal Tools. You do so in order to help the Valley return to its normal state. But the question here is where are they? And how can you get them? In this guide, we will show you how to get the Royal Tools.
The Royal Tools Guide – Disney Dreamlight Valley
First off is the Watering Can. You can find this tool hidden behind some barrels next to a house. You will have to remove the thorns though, but just enough so you can get inside.
Next is the Shovel, which you can find next to a condemned building. The shovel is easy to spot since it’s protruding from the ground and glowing gold.
Next up is the Pickaxe, which is embedded in stone ala Excalibur style. Once you remove the pickaxe from the stone, a cutscene will play. A bright light will emerge from the stone and bring back sunshine on Dreamlight Valley once again.
You have two options after getting the pickaxe: go to Merlin or get the Fishing Rod. We recommend getting the fishing rod first before going to Merlin. Go to the Meadow, specifically to the fishing pond. You will have to use your pickaxe to break rocks along the way.
Once you get the Broken Fishing Rod, head to this house as shown in the image above. This house has Goofy inside, which you need to talk to. However, in front of it is another one of those cursed thorns, which you can remove easily.
Speak to Goofy inside and give him the Broken Fishing Rod. He will then tell you a story of the previous ruler of the Valley.
Once he’s done talking, he will then grant you a new Fishing Rod, which you can use later on.
After getting the Fishing Rod, you can now go back to Merlin and talk to him. He is located in front of the castle, which is surrounded by the cursed thorns. You can’t go inside yet, as there is no way to do so.
Merlin will then lead you to the well and talk to you about Dreamlight, which is important to restore Dreamlight Valley to its once beautiful self. After the conversation is over, you’ve finished the quest are free to do whatever you please.
