If you’ve been running around Washington DC hearing sleigh bells in your head and wondering why everyone is suddenly obsessed with green gift boxes, welcome to the Rudolph Hunt event of Division 2. There are 40 hidden presents scattered across the map, and yes, shooting them is absolutely worth your time.
Each present has a 20% chance to drop a Winter Key, which is basically your ticket to some of the best gear in the game. On top of that, every single present guarantees a named item, plus legacy holiday apparel from previous events. And if you manage to shoot all 40? You unlock a commendation and a patch you can flex to prove you survived the hunt.
Lock and load, let’s get into it.
Why You Should Be Hunting These Presents

Whether you’re a completionist or just here for loot, this event delivers.
Even if you don’t care about commendations, you’re still rolling the dice on Winter Keys and stacking named items, including Dark Zone, exclusive drops. The best part? You can do this on any difficulty. Heroic, Normal, it doesn’t matter. The loot quality stays solid across the board.
I personally tested this on both difficulties and was happy with the results. Running it on Normal obviously means less resistance, but don’t get too comfortable, the Krampus mobs still spawn, which keeps things interesting and adds even more chances at gear and keys along the way.
How the Guide Is Structured (So You Don’t Lose Your Mind)

To make this as painless as possible, all 40 present locations have been:
- Condensed into one master map
- Clearly marked with coordinates
- Broken down by named zones
- Ordered in a logical path from the top-left of the map to the bottom-right
At the start of each zone section, you’ll see an overview showing every present location in that area. From there, you’re walked through each one step by step. The goal was simple: fast, efficient, and no unnecessary wandering.
All Present Locations by Zone
Here’s how the 40 presents are spread across DC:
West End (2)
Downtown West (2)
Constitution Hall (3)
West Potomac Park / WPP (4)
White House Area (8)
Downtown East (12)
Judiciary Square (3)
Federal Triangle (1)
East Mall (2)
Southwest (3)
Follow this order and you’ll avoid unnecessary backtracking.
The “Cheese” Method (Yes, It’s Real)

Now here’s the important part: the Shoot 40 Presents Cheese.
If you’re only after the commendation, there’s a very easy way to speed this up.
Each character gets their own fresh set of presents, but the commendation progress is shared across all characters. That means if you have four characters, you only need to shoot 10 presents per character to hit all 40.
Even better, there’s a small bug that works in your favor.
Important Note: because this is clearly not intended behavior, it’s very possible Ubisoft patches this during the event or in a future update. If it stops working, this is likely why.
Once you shoot a present, you can:
- Fast travel out of the area
- Fast travel back
- Shoot the same present again
It won’t visually respawn, but it still counts toward your total. This doesn’t give extra loot, but it does advance the counter. So if you’re stuck at 39, you can simply reshoot one to finish the commendation.
If you do want maximum loot, though, the better option is swapping characters. Shooting presents on different characters does give additional named items and holiday rewards.
The Hunt for the Final Present (And Where It Actually Is)

For a long time, the community was stuck at 39 out of 40. Foggy Bottom was suspiciously empty, and even after 18 hours of searching, I came up short.
But good news, the 40th present has officially been found.
Where to Find the Final Present
The last present is located near the Tidal Basin staging area.
Coordinates: 8852747
From the staging area:
- Turn around and head through the marsh
- Keep the Tidal Basin security gate on your right
- Follow the fence or cut straight through the marsh
- You’ll come across a small house
You don’t need to go inside. The present is outside, tucked near the chimney. It blends in incredibly well and honestly looks like part of the environment, which is why so many people ran right past it.
That will put you directly in front of the house so you can spot the chimney and shoot the final present.
Final Thoughts
This event turned into one of the most fun community hunts we’ve had in a while. Between the loot, the nostalgia drops, the commendation, and the ridiculous amount of searching involved, it was chaos, in the best way possible.
If you followed this guide, you should now have:
- All 40 presents
- A shiny commendation and patch
- A pile of named items and Winter Keys
If you discover anything new, notice something off, or just got an insane drop, let me know in the comments. And if you want more Division 2 guides like this, you know what to do.
Good luck, agents, and happy hunting 🎄
