There are some things that are better left unexplained sometimes, and that applies very well in Dredge if you know the rules of Lovecraftian literature.

Curiosity can do more than just kill a cat after all. But occasionally your desire to know more just gets the better of you, especially when you start doing quests for the various hooded figures scattered around the islands.

What do they want? What do they seek? And why do they only speak to me using hissing noises?

Two of those questions can be answered for you in this guide so if you want to get their quests done early on start sailing eastwards!

Figure in Violet Guide | Dredge

The Figure in Violet is one of the four quests you can do early on in the game, you can find them in different parts of the map as you keep on exploring.

For this specific fellow, you’ll need to sail south of the Twisted Strand towards an unnamed island located at F10.

Head to the southern tip of that island to find the figure sitting alongside the shore.

The hooded figure will present to you a scroll with a Tarpon drawn on it, he or she will say nothing more and will simply wait for you to get the item over at E11 or F11.

That’s northeast of the island where the figure is staying so just follow the shore until you get closer to the Twisted Strand.

Give that back to the purple menace and they’ll make quick work of the Tarpon by giving it a tight squeeze.

They’ll whip out another scroll with a Horseshoe Crab on it this time, you can find an abundance of these over at the Rickety Pontoon, specifically at H12.

That crab won’t see the light of day anytime soon as it’ll get carved almost immediately the moment you bring it back. You do get one more scroll though, this time it’s a Barreleye. You’ll have to sail all the way down to E1 next to the Stellar Basin to get one.

The man in purple will continue showing you its utter disregard for table manners by taking a huge chunk off the Barreleye’s head once you give it back.

Before you’re treated to more acts of barbarism you’re given a book for all the trouble you’ve gone through and you’re basically free to go.

Remember, there are three more figures for you to talk to. If you want to find them just search the unnamed islands near the edges of the map.

They’ll all have books as rewards, for this quest what you’ll get will provide you bonus movement speed for your engines.

These are quite useful to have early on so get questing!

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
