In Dredge, you can catch all manners of fish and species. Additionally, you can also catch Aberrations which are difficult to find counterparts of normal fish. The new Iron Rig DLC has added new exotic fish Aberrations that you can obtain.
In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how you can catch all of these new Aberrations. Also, we’ll look at the locations where you can find them. This will allow you to add them in your encyclopedia. With that said, let’s dive in!
How to Catch All Exotic Fish Aberrations
There are a total of 5 exotic fish Aberrations that were added to Dredge as part of the Iron Rig DLC. You can utilize any method you want, but we’ll be using the method using Atrophy.
We’ll first emphasize the general method, after which we’ll look at where you can find each Aberration.
Feel free to use the Table of Contents if you’re only interested in catching a specific exotic fish.
Fishing Method Used
Starting off, we’ll be looking at the method that we’ll utilize to catch all the exotic fish Aberrations. When we find the fish in a location, we’ll first be dropping exotic bait.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to have the right fishing rod equipped for each fish. Otherwise, you will not be able to drop the bait.
Once that’s done, we’ll be using Atrophy to catch the fish. In general, Atrophy has a high chance for aberrations. However, if you’ve already caught the normal version of the fish, you’re guaranteed to catch the aberration.
As a result, using exotic bait and Atrophy is the best method. But, you are free to use whichever method you prefer.
Some players have also reported that this method works even if you do it at the wrong spot. As long as you’re in the correct biome, you’ll be able to get it.
We have not been able to confirm this, so we’ll show you the locations nonetheless. After all, you’ll need accurate information for catching it with another method.
Either way, we’ll be using this method for all the locations and fish aberrations in the rest of this Dredge guide.
Archon’s Burden – Oarfish
Starting off, we’ll be heading to the Gale Cliffs in Dredge to catch our first exotic fish aberration. The exact location is shown in the image below.
Once you’re here, sail around and you should be able to find a waterfall. Head inside the waterfall and you’ll find yourself in a small cave.
Over here, drop the exotic bait in the water. Make sure you have the Abyssal type rod or any other usable one so that you can drop it.
Once the exotic bait has been dropped, immediately use Atrophy. Doing so will give you the Archon’s Burden, which is an aberration of the Oarfish.
Make sure you’ve already caught this fish to guarantee your chances of getting the exotic fish aberration.
Famine’s End – Gulper Eel
For this next exotic fish aberration, make your way to the Stellar Basin. Make sure you’ve already caught the Gulper Eel in Dredge. The exact location you want to head to is shown below.
This is the same area where you can find the Repulsion Machine after you complete the Research Assistant’s Pursuit. From this machine, sail a bit towards the direction shown below.
You’ll know the correct position by the underwater fauna that you can see. Once you’re here drop the exotic fish.
Famine’s End is a Mangrove type fish, so have a Mangrove fishing rod equipped. This will allow you to throw the bait.
After that, use Atrophy and you’ll be able to catch it!
Brute’s Crux – Goliath Tigerfish
After that, we’ll be heading to the Twisted Strand in Dredge. Again, we recommend that you have already caught the Goliath Tigerfish when you go for this aberration.
Next, head to the location shown on the map.
After that, head into the area and you should be able to spot the Brute’s Crux near a dead end here. Once you do, immediately throw down your exotic bait.
Brute’s Crux is a Mangrove type fish so have the fishing rod for this equipped.
Once you’ve dropped the bait, use Atrophy after. Doing so will give you Brute’s Crux and the entry in your encyclopedia.
Shaper’s Prime – Coelacanth
Next up, you’ll be making a journey to the ruins of Devil’s Spine. The specific location is around the Charred Pontoon, as shown on the map below.
Be sure to have the Coelacanth caught already when you head there.
When you’re here, you should see a passage between two ruins. Sail a bit into the passage and you should find the spot here.
Have the Abyssal fishing rod equipped as this is Shaper’s Prime type. After that, you’ll be able to drop the exotic bait. Use Atrophy immediately after.
Doing so will allow you to catch the Shaper’s Prime exotic fish aberrant.
Just one to go!
Sleeper’s Torment – Sleeper Shark
Last, but not least, we’ll be heading to the Pale Reach in Dredge. You want to go near the Southern Locus in the area, with the exact location shown below.
As before, having the Sleeper Shark caught already is recommended.
Go to the area shown below and you should find the spot for the Sleeper’s Torment. Be sure to have the Ice type rod equipped since the Sleeper’s Torment is an ice type.
Any other rod will not work, which is a common mistake that most players make here.
After that, you should be able to drop the exotic bait. As before, use Atrophy after.
This will allow you to obtain the Sleeper’s Torment. And with that you have all the exotic fish aberrations in The Iron Rig DLC.
That’s everything you need to know about catching all the exotic fish aberrations in Dredge. Doing so will allow you to update your encyclopedia. It remains to be seen though what other aberrations will get added.
