DREDGE: Recording Rarities Guide

These are some rare fish alright!

Sometimes when you play adventure games or RPGs you tend to get a lot of quests. It’s like getting all the grocery bags from the car in one trip, it’s a great idea till you trip on the porch. For those who like making their quest logs into shopping lists it might get confusing it times.

In Dredge there’s a lot of quests that you can do and even though the game tries its best to limit how much you can get, there’s still a lot. I can’t blame you if you get lost when doing some of these quests. In this guide we’ll show you how to do one of the quests in the game!

Recording Rarities Guide For DREDGE

There’s a lot of quests in Dredge, or as the game calls them Pursuits. Don’t worry developers, we don’t mind you giving quests fancy names. One of the pursuits you can find in Dredge is Recording Rarities. To get this quest you’ll first need to talk to the Traveling Merchant, which can be found in a lot of places.

You can find her when you see a floating rig with a boat next to it. She’ll ask you to get a number of fish and some of them can be tough to find. She’s asking for an Oarfish, Gulper Eel, Goliath Tigerfish and Coalacanth. All of these fish are rare and can only be found in certain areas, so let’s catch them one by one.

Oarfish

The Oarfish can be found in the Gale Cliffs, where there’s a large waterfall. You can actually go inside the waterfall and there you’ll find an Abyssal Fishing Spot. The fish is quite long so make sure you have enough space for it!

Goliath Tigerfish

For the next fish you’ll need some packed explosives. You can buy these after doing the Hermit’s quest in the Gale Cliffs. Now you’ll need to go to the Twisted Strand and on the southern part of it should be a tree blocking the way.

Use the explosives to break through that tree trunk and go past it. There you’ll find a Mangrove fishing spot, and there you can get a Goliath Tigerfish!

Coelacanth

For the next fish you’ll need another Packed Explosive. Then you’ll need to head to the Devil’s Spine and go to the eastern island. On the southeastern side of the island are a bunch of rocks you can blow up.

Right after the rocks you’ll find an Abyssal Fishing Spot, there you can catch a Coelacanth! Again, this one is big so make some room!

Gulper Eel

The last fish on the list is found in the Stellar Basin. You’ll need to activate the Repulsion Machine so that the creatures there won’t bother you. You can then look for a Hadal Fishing Spot that has the same shape as the Gulper Eel. You can use the image below as a reference.

Congratulations you now know how to do the Recording Rarities Pursuit in Dredge! Now go out there and try to do the quest yourself! Good luck at fishing for those rare fish!
