How To Use Work Orders Guide – Dwarf Fortress

Work Orders are basically your way of getting something done in quite a lot quantity and not taking your time for simply making small chairs and everything needed for your workers for example. It will save you a lot of time so know how to do them is essential.

This is where the manager and the work orders come in. He will take the job and the work task of making these small things by himself, so that you won’t have to worry about the smaller things like those anymore.

He will do this by checking the list of orders starting at the top and checking if their conditions are met. To get started with work order you will first need to set yourself a manager in the Noble Screen. You will need to make him an office, but a char and a table will do just fine.

You will need to make him an office with a designated area so that he will be able to actually check on the orders that you give him. You will make a very small room and just select it to be his office.

Once you have done so, you can go into the work order on the bottom left corner and open up everything that you can assign him to do. Once you place it you will get an empty screen but once you fill it up with tasks it will look like this:

To give him some certain orders, you can just write in the search bar of his work window and then choose a certain something. You can do something very simple as crafting certain tools. Once you place these simple orders he will just do it one time and you can choose how much he actually needs to do.

You will just need to find a certain task that you will want him to do for you. You will search it up and save a lot of time when he will be doing it. It will save you from going through the repetitive task of crafting some things over and over again.

You can use the + andsymbols to add or decrease the amount of workshops that the manager can take advantage off. This way you will be making his work much more faster depending on how many workshops you actually have. They also aren’t limited. You can do as many as you want with them.

This here is a workchart that you can use with your manager to get the most out of your Work Orders as possible:
