In Elden Ring Nightreign, players can try out different characters that offer their own weapons, skills and styles of play. These are known as Nightfarers and you can engage in a variety of builds to ensure that it suits your preference. One such Nightfarer that offers a lot of potential for creativity is the Recluse. The Recluse is arguably one of the more unique classes that you can play in the game because of the Magic Cocktail skill. In this guide, we will show you how you can utilize her properly so that you can pull off some amazing combos. Without further delay, let’s get into it!

How to Play Recluse

Recluse is a spell caster type character of the ‘mage‘ archetype. This means that she can cast spells which cost FP, that serves as mana in the game.

Here is a breakdown of her skills in Elden Ring Nightreign:

  • Elemental Defense (Passive)
    • Collecting affinity residues restores FP
  • Magic Cocktail
    • Absorb elements to restore FP
    • Three elements absorbed can be used to create a new spell
  • Soulblood Song (Ultimate Art)
    • AoE marks enemies
    • Restores HP and FP when you hit marked enemies.

Magic Cocktail Explained

The skill that helps the Recluse stand out by far from other Nightfarers is the Magic Cocktail ability.

Any time an ally or enemy is hit with elemental damage, like magic, fire, lightning or holy – the Recluse can use Magic Cocktail to syphon and store that element. Once you have stored three elements, your next cast of Magic Cocktail will create a brand new spell with 0 FP Cost and no cooldown.

On top of that, every time you syphon an element, you restore a decent amount a FP which gives you more FP than you used to trigger it.

As a result, the Recluse offers a unique style of play with high risk and high rewards. Your entire strategy will revolve around making the best use of the spell combinations you syphon.

Next, let’s take a look at the most important element combinations and see what spells you can unleash. Also, if you’re looking to get an idea of what all Nightfarers do, check out our all 8 characters skills guide.
