Who says staves can only be magic armaments? The Rotten Staff in particular breaks weapon molds as it’s a melee weapon that works pretty well with bashing your enemies on the head for serious damage, especially if you are building Str/Dex. One of the Colossal weapons in game, you would need a high counter of Strength to be able to wield this weapon.
Rotten Staff Location – Elden Ring
Colossal weapons in this game are mostly dropped by giants or Erdtree guardians, and this weapon is not much different. To get the Rotten Staff, head on to Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree and move towards the eastern ring walkway. Getting to this walkway needs you to start at the Prayer Room Site of Grace.
After getting to this Grace site, jump onto the second concrete beam connecting to a tower, there should be ledges at the bottom that will test your parkour skills and will land you straight on the ring walkway. There should be an Erdtree Avatar patrolling there.
Defeating this Avatar will net you the Rotten Staff. What’s good about the Staff is it causes Scarlet Rot buildup when you continuously bash someone with it, especially good during boss fights. You can upgrade it using Somber Smithing Stones and as it has its own Weapon Skill, cannot be infused with any Ashes of War.
It’s special Weapon Skill, Erdtree Slam, is the most powerful of all Groundslam Skills and is a great AOE skill against a lot of mobs. This skill costs 20 FP to use and is not chargeable.
