In Final Fantasy XVI‘s prologue, a gang of knights took captive Clive Rosfield, the player character. Bark made fun of Clive for his previous life as a Hound and enslaved troops that tracked down and murdered Rosarian’s citizens. We will discuss below whether there is any difference between the two choices given to the player.

All Bark Choice in Final Fantasy 16

Bark ask Clive if he wants, he can call the Dame, the head of the hounds. Following that, Clive can choose to respond, “That wretch would be the Dame” or “That wretch would be me.”

That wretch would be the Dame

Clive’s devotion for the Dame is evident from this choice. With this decision, Clive demonstrates his loyalty and dedication to their leader. This makes Benoit visibly irritated with him.

That wretch would be Me

This choice demonstrates Clive’s acceptance on the shame and stigma that go along with being a Branded. Clive’s reaction challenges Benoit’s arrogance. Clive claimed his own identity and refused to let Benoit define him.

Final Outcome and Rewards

The player ultimately makes the decision, and there is no right or wrong answer. The gamer can interpret how they see Clive as a character through this decision. Both choices don’t affect the state of the world in any game. You will obtain 30 Magicked Ash, 20 Exp and 150 Ability points after the quest conversation.
