Beginner’s Guide & Some Tips – For The King
1. Stock up as much as you can as early as you can.
Lose all of your characters and it’s over, so make sure you’re constantly spending your money on healing items and keep an eye on your party’s health. It’s best to stock up on God’s beard and other healing items early on, in particular, as the prices of items will increase the further you progress in the game. For example, God’s beard will start at about 8 to 10 gold, but the more quests you complete, the higher priced it will become before traveling to new areas or when shops refresh, be sure to buy out.

2. Take your time, don’t let the timed events or turn tracker at the top of the screen pressure you into rushing through the game.
While it may seem obvious For The King to reward those who are more strategic with their planning, barreling through the game can result in unnecessary battles, wasted items, and jumping into dungeons and areas before you’re ready. All leading to having to take it back to the drawing board.
And sometimes the best strategy is just taking your time to avoid conflict altogether. So have patience.
3. Don’t be afraid to use your focus when it’s useful.
Yes, your focus points are some of the most valuable resources in the game, which sometimes makes you want to save them and save them, and never actually get the benefits of using them in battles or random encounters. If you’re like me and like playing solo, try not to spread your party out too much. Monsters can pop up randomly throughout the map and in random turns. You might be one bad surprise away from your party to get completely separated.
And when you have a lone hero trying to fight through a swarm, that just makes life so much harder for you when getting into battle. If heroes are close enough, they’ll be able to team up against enemies, so it’s best to keep everyone within sight distance or a few hexes of one another.
If you happen to find that your party is a bit too spread out, use dungeons and ships to your advantage to gather them back up. As long as they’re not too far away.
Bonus Tip: Make party members move significant distances without taking any turns.
Ships also provide the extra advantage of moving your entire party using only one character’s movement, which makes things almost three times as fast.
5. Try not to let the enemies attack. Sounds kind of obvious, right?
Keep an eye out on that attack order in battle and see if you can find ways of preventing hits from happening in the first place.
Try to kill off enemies that will attack you first, or use debuffs to slow them down. The best way to avoid consuming tons of items and to better manage resources is to avoid having to use them in the first place.
