Forspoken’s Boss Fights Need To Be Really Good

If you don’t know about Forspoken, then you should know that it is an action adventure RPG that is currently being developed with the engine, Luminous Engine. The very same engine that brought us Final Fantasy XV 7 years ago in 2016. The game was certainly divisive, as it was not the original game that Tetsuya Nomura wanted, but it was the game that Hajime Tabata delivered.

However, one thing players can say about the boss fights in Final Fantasy XV is that they were huge, flashy, spectacles that definitely looked awesome, especially the fights against the Summons like Titan and Shiva. For a game in 2016, the boss fights were certainly amazing to look at, and over time, they make you feel powerful, as if you are stronger than the large Titan trying to squash you.

Noctis: He’s right behind me, isn’t he?

All of these boss fights were made in the Luminous Engine, and despite the troubled development in trying to make the engine work (there really was a lot of trouble with this engine back in the day), the team managed to deliver awesome boss fights that certainly made my eyes glued to the screen.

But that was back in 2016, when the console we had at the time was the PlayStation 4 and its powerful version, PlayStation 4 Pro. We are now in 2023, three years into the generation with the PlayStation 5. A game like Forspoken needs to be on another level of epic now, because the developers are using technology and software that the devs who made Final Fantasy XV wish they had.

The open world Final Fantasy XV wish they had.

After the release of Forspoken’s demo, many have stated that this game might not be all what it’s cracked up to be, and they should wait until reviews come in to see what reviewers think of the game. As it stands, Forspoken has garnered a lot of bad word of mouth, all originating from the trailer they released a couple months ago that showcased some rather corny dialogue, and the general reception from the demo is not helping.

However, Square Enix is not shaken by this, promising that the final game is better. Which many hope it will be, as Forspoken does indeed look promising. The boss fights, however, are kept under wraps tightly, as there wasn’t a lot being featured in the demo, and even in the promotional material.

All we have are snippets and stills of what could possibly be boss fights from the game, but without official confirmation, we’re left in the dark. Square keeping the boss fights a secret can only mean one thing: they’re so good that it’s much better to experience in the game, or they’re still tweaking the game, which is obviously very bad as we are nearing the release of the game.

Forspoken needs to blow expectations out of the water with its boss fights, because we saw the potential of the Luminous Engine in Final Fantasy XV. If they can do that with last gen hardware, imagine what they can do now with the current, more powerful hardware.

He's also a huge fan of superhero media like Marvel and DC, so he's practically played games like Spider-Man and the Batman Arkham games. He's also into multiplayer games that strike his fancy, specifically games like Call of Duty and Fortnite. Most especially Fortnite since he can play as different Marvel and DC characters in a battle royale against other famous and iconic characters.
