Simulator games are kind of a gamble. You never know when the game you are playing is an accurate simulation, or as close as it can be, of what it’s like (i.e., Farming Simulator) or if it’s just a funny game that’s fully of the wackiest and craziest thing you have ever seen in your entire life as a gamer (i.e., Goat Simulator).

However, cleaning simulators are kind of an untouched market right now. While power washing videos continues to rake in millions of views on Facebook or TikTok, there is surprisingly not a lot of games that deal with cleaning. Probably because gamers don’t really clean themselves either, so they don’t clean in games too (I’m joking, guys).

It wasn’t until recently this year that we had a power wash simulator called, well, PowerWash Simulator. Developed by FuturLab and published by Square Enix, of all publishers.

Yeah, the same guys who made Final Fantasy and published games like Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, are the same people who published a power wash simulator. Did not anticipate that in my 2022 bingo card.

But it did start the beginning of a power wash simulator market, or even other cleaning video games. Because now, we have a game called Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator, and it is the most adorable and wholesome game to come out of 2022.

Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator is an environmental awareness game

The premise of the game is that it is set in a post apocalyptic world. The human population is almost gone, and the world is close to uninhabitable due to how much junk and pollution everywhere. Yet you, the protagonist, are making it your mission to help save it. No matter how dreadful the situation may seem, there is still time to help save the world, and that’s what makes this game a awareness game.

No matter how you look at it, Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator advocates for the protection of our environment, and how we can help it by simply cleaning it. That’s all there is to it. The game helps clean up nature, as well as the homes of the animals that you encounter in the game.

The game doesn’t have any action or whatever, nothing wacky goes on besides the fact that you are simply cleaning up the world. But there are instances where you have to save animals from fires and help grow plants to bring back some greenery in this barren world.

This game helps relax the player. We have a lot of games that are meant to scare the player or cause stress because of certain objectives and encounters and what not, so seeing a game like Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator is nice to see.

Great art style

The art style of the game is amazing. It really helps the player relax while playing the game. It’s not realistic by any means, but you don’t really need realism to feel immersed in the world of Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator. Graphical fidelity in a game like this doesn’t really matter when the art style looks this good.

As with any simulator game, it is repetitive

While the game takes you to places around the world, you will feel a sense of repetitiveness. But that’s to be expected in simulator games. When playing Microsoft Flight Simulator, you don’t do anything else but pilot planes and fly around the skies. Even the Truck Simulator games can be boring once you get the hang of it.

The premise of the game is nice, and it offers a nice way to immerse yourself into the world. But with it being a cleaning simulator, you’re not going to be doing much else. Simulator games don’t often have variety when it comes to gameplay. If you see a simulator game about power washing, then you play a game about power washing and nothing else. You get what you pay for.

The game has levels, but replayability is close to none, as it is once again just the same core gameplay loop. You don’t really get to do much as else besides saving the environment and helping animals. There are some puzzles, but they don’t really vary in the game.

Summary

Fresh Start Simulator is the type of game you experience once. However, with how repetitive the game is because of the core gameplay loop, there’s not much replayabilty if you want to go for another round in the game. But other than the poor replayability, I do recommend getting this game if you want to spend hours relaxing and helping the environment. Which is why the final rating of this game is 3.7
