Fontaine new 4.2 update in Genshin Impact brings two new regions and a total of 38 Hydroculus for Erinnyes Forest. We’re back to floating up in the air to plunging the depths of the bottom of the sea. The world is vast and we’re finally halfway of where this story is leading us and we’re just one step away from completing the Statue of the Seven for Fontaine.
Erinnyes Forest Hydroculus Location (38)
The following is where the locations of the Hydroculus are in Fontaine’s Erinnyes Forest. Most of them are linked to either a World Quest or nearby puzzles that unlock mechanisms allowing you to jump or float to the Hydroculus. Keep reading for the full walkthrough.
1. We start from the top near the Experimental Field Generator. Walk up the mountain to get the Waypoint and then walk around it.
You don’t have to climb up the mountain as the Hydroculus is snuck in between the cliffs with a narrow passage that cuts from north to south.
2. The second one is just south from here high in the air to the left of the new region Waypoint. You should be able to see it as you leave the south passage.
3. The third one is right on top of the Waypoint mentioned before. There’s also a time challenge you can finish here.
4. Head to the new Statue of the Seven that’s just next to Marcotte Station. This one is hard to miss as it’s just next to the statue. Climb the tree or use the nearby jellyfish to launch yourself up and float over to it.
5. Then, you’ll soon get a ping of another one nearby. This one is inside the giant clamshell just below the statue. Using any attack will crack it open to reveal the 5th Hydroculus inside.
6. Back on the peak of a cliff to the east before the Weeping Willow Lake is another Hydroculus. There’s an Anemo Hilichurl Rogue under it which produces a wind current upward to get the Hydroculus when killed. Then, glide to the north with the current.
7. To the north, there’s your seventh Hydroculus floating on air. You can use the nearby jellyfish to launch you up and then it’ll spawn a chest as well. Reposition the jellyfish using the Xenochromatic power just behind the jellyfish near a tree. Then hop on.
8. Glide over to the other side of the lake where you will see a wind totem puzzle. Turn all of them on by lighting the bonfire to summon the Eye of the Storm. Kill it and you’ll get a wind current up to the Hydroculus.
This will also send you upward for another fight with the Eye of the Storm for a Precious Chest. Glide to the middle of Loch Urania.
9. From the chest, glide over to the top of the bubbling water in Loch Urania for the Hydroculus.
10. Walk to the north up the hill to find a small pond with a puzzle next to a Shrine of Depths. Interacting with the mechanism inside the water will solve the puzzle itself. Then, hit the clam to reveal the pneuma block you need to crack open the thing to get your Hydroculus.
11. Time to head to the Foggy Forest Path. You can reach the Waypoint from the Fountain of Lucine and just walk south. Using the nearby Xenochromatic power, push the jellyfish to right below the Hydroculus so you can reach it.
12. Head north where you can see an Ousia block. There’s a small pond with a pneuma-locked box inside you can crack for the 12th Hydroculus.
13. The next one is right on top of another mountain up north just next to the Waypoint. Utilize the ship puzzle just next to the Waypoint. Do not jump off the ship on the first anomaly.
Once you’re done shooting it all, the platform will be instantly gone. Jump off the ship on the second anomaly. You will be able to jump back with the third anomaly.
14. Glide to the west into the pond. There’s a Hydroculus underwater hiding inside the clam.
15. Walk up north towards the Weeping Willow of the Lake and there’s going to be another one of the side road. It’s also next to a viewpoint if you’ve finished the World Quest here.
16. Follow the World Quest that begins near the Foggy Forest Path which eventually leads to the fountain near Marcotte Station. Unlock it and you’ll have a new path to the underwater region. The Hydroculus is not far after you dive in. Keep going.
17. There’s going to be a giant Jellyfish boss that you can kill for the Precious chest. Keep swimming past it and then right above it is a way you can swim up.
Keep swimming and you’ll get a ping of a nearby Hydroculus here. It’s actually under you if you swim to the end here, you can go into another tunnel inside where you’ll find it.
18. Keep swimming into the center and then go north. Take the current and keep swimming and there’ll be a Hydroculus in your way.
19. Teleport to the south of the lake this time and walk over to this time challenge. You need to do this to get the 17th Hydroculus up there.
20. Glide over to the northeast area where you can see a couple of big jellyfish here and the Hydroculus ping should pop. The Hydro totem puzzle is basically just you drenching everything wet.
Put off the fire on the torches near one of the jellyfish and turn on all the Hydro totems in the order of the amount of the tree stumps near them to move the other. Now jump on the jellyfish and you’ll get the Hydroculus and the Precious chest.
21. Glide down northeast to the area with green clots. Please be careful of Liam nearby who is a very tanky boss.
After you break them, you can dive down and take the portal. It’s going to immediately teleport you to a secret room with loot. As you make your way out, you’ll get a Hydroculus.
22. You can’t miss this Hydroculus. Because it’s just right above the wall after you’re out of the well.
23. Keep walking up north following the path until you see a house. Again, be careful of Rocky Avildsen who’s also very tanky like Liam. The Hydroculus is inside the house.
24. The Hydroculus is inside the tree of Weeping Willow of the Lake.
25. Look to the east of the lake for a cave entrance. Use the cannon to break open a path in front of you and then the Hydroculus will appear. And if those bonfires don’t remind you of something from the desert of Sumeru.
26. Summon the Waverider and ride on – at the end of the tunnel is a Hilichurl camp. And the Hydroculus is on the top of the small hill.
27. Teleport to the east of the Weeping Willow of the Lake and glide to the cliff further down for the 27th Hydroculus.
28. Keep gliding southeast before the shore, still on the cliff. Head to this area here to roll the ball down the goal on the pond to break open the rock.
Just send it tumbling down with full force and unveil the Hydroculus behind it. Taking the portal will reveal some chests as well!
29. Just south of this place at the shipwreck area you’ll get a Hydroculus ping. Find 3 Simple Vault Keys to unlock the gate and get your Hydroculus here.
30. Outside the shipwreck, is another Hydroculus you can see. It’s on the cliff wall to the southeast of here.
31. Then, teleport to Lumidouce Harbor with the Hydroculus on the hook next to you.
32. Walk to the terrace behind the harbor and then activate the mechanism. Walk through the invisible pathway and use the jellyfish to get the Hydroculus.
33. The next one in this region is just floating right on top of this spot. You can glide here, or just dive and then use this jellyfish to grab the Hydroculus.
34. Swim to the shore and by the Waverider Waypoint, you should see a Hydroculus above you. Use the Xenochromatic power to move the jellyfish so you can bounce up and get it.
35. Keep walking up north back to the dirt path. The Hydroculus is under the bridge over the stream. Walk across the bridge.
36. To your right side, destroy the green clots. It’ll move the jellyfish so they stack on each other, and you can reach the Hydroculus.
37. Glide to the south to the shipwreck area. Speak with the NPC Permingeat to start her Quiz. After answering her correctly, you can use the cannon to blow up the side of the cliff. Explore deep inside the cave and you’ll find the Hydroculus easily on your left.
38. Hop on the jellyfish to quickly float yourself up and another one is to your left again in a similar location to the previous one.
And that is all for the Hydroculus in Erinnyes Forest region for Genshin Impact 4.2. Stay tuned for the other region!
