Marana’s Avatar is the Last Boss of the Sumeru Area. You will be going in for a good one this time. This boss is not very powerful and the pattern that you’ll need to do in order to defeat him will be the absolute same as the entire area –  you will be going over some Withering Zones and then going after him. Let’s see this explained in detail.

Defeat Marana’s Avatar Guide – Genshin Impact

DO NOT GO ATTACKING MARANA’S AVATAR IMMEDIATELY! This is what a lot of players get wrong. When you first see Marana’s Avatar you will probably start to attack him. You can’t damage him this way at all, and in turn, will only get yourself killed.

These are his attacks when he is untouchable:

  • Air Attack – He’ll float in the air. When he does this, do not pursue him or attempt to leap-hit him. He will launch an air strike or stomp on the ground, causing tremendous AoE damage in a wide radius. When you observe him doing this, simply back away.
  • Wave Attack – You can see them approaching you one by one. The trick is to leap over them as they grow closer to you. Also, attempt to get as far away as possible from their radius. This onslaught normally lasts 10 seconds. So simply take your time and be ready to make your move this time.

The first thing that you should do when fighting Marana’s Avatar is simply getting out of the fighting arena.  That’s right. Just walk back from where you came from and follow Paimon. He will lead you with his green circle to the next position you’ll need to go.

First Stage of Marana’s Avatar Boss Fight

Follow the green circle that will bring you to your destination while also healing you along the way. While running you will notice purple circles around you. Avoid them because the boss is attacking you in this way.

When you reach a particular point and the green circle has stopped moving, activate the Healthy Dendrogranum and then strike at the bushes around the Withering region. You’ll aim for both the bushes and red flowers.

Be careful of his bombarding though. Once you are here you will want to only go after the bushes and flowers when he’s not attacking you. Stay inside the green shield when he’s bombing you.

When he bombards you, he will also create a large Ruin Guard. Although there is only one opponent, you must destroy it in order to progress. When those enemies are defeated, as well as the flowers and bushes, you will proceed to the large Red Flower in the center and destroy the Tumor of Withering.

Second Stage of Marana’s Avatar Boss Fight

Whenever you complete a Withering Zone you will want to go back to the arena of Marana’s Avatar as soon as possible. This will give you time to deal damage to him. As you can see, when you go back to him you’ll be able to damage him a bit.

If you’re fast enough you can lower him to about 60% HP. You will need to do a massive damage outburst though. Everything that you’ve got you need to throw on him. Only having a couple of seconds means that you’ll need to use it wisely.

Leave the arena once more. Return to the green circle to enter another Withering Zone (this time on the left side). When you arrive, you must follow the identical instructions as the first Withering Zone that you’ve just cleared out.

Destroy the red blossoms, then defeat all of your enemies before finally destroying the Tumor of Withering. The only change this time is that the enemies are different. You’ll be attacked by a few weird-looking monsters. Be careful of these because they’ll cause a lot of harm.

Keep an eye out for the regular bombardment and stuff. Stay under the green barrier and heal up as much as possible before returning to the arena.

Once all of that is passed you will want to go back to the boss arena too. Use the zaps to fly back into the arena as quickly as possible. Marana’s Avatar (the boss) will appear the same as before. Now is your chance to do even more outrageous damage!

Third Stage of Marana’s Avatar Boss Fight

After the last battle and the damage that you would do to him, you should leave him on about 40% HP. Exit the arena and follow the green circle once again. It will transport you to another Withering Zone, which you must clean up just like the previous two.

When you get to the Withering Zone, again you will be placed in a similar situation. There will be red flowers, large red flowers, and then foes will spawn to take you down. You will be bombarded as usual by the boss, so shelter behind the green barrier once more. The same thing really.

When all of everything is done, just Destroy the Tumor of Withering. Return to the boss’s arena with a zap!

This time when you get to him you’ll have also a short amount of time to deal damage to him. But if you are fast enough you can get him to 0% HP this time! That means that he is dead! Congratulations! Oh no… Here he comes again. On to the last stage!

Last Stage of Marana’s Avatar Boss Fight

This time you’ll be getting a real Boss Fight in the style of Genshin Impact.

Lots of opponents will spawn around the boss, attempting to kill you while also injuring you. But keep your eyes on the boss. He has extremely little HP, thus there is no reason to pursue the smaller and easier monsters in this circumstance. Just place all the focus of your damage on the boss.

Once you take him down to 0% HP this time, he will die for good.

Congratulations on passing the last boss of the Sumeru Area! We hope that this guide was of some help and fulfilled its purpose – you defeating Marana’s Avatar. Now go on ahead and give it a try yourself! Good luck!
